About this deal

Like I said earlier, if you are going away for a couple of days, you can fill these right to the top and they will take a couple of days for the water to seep into the growbag behind.

Tomato plants are thirsty plants. They need regular watering, which can lead to the soil becoming compacted and water running off before it’s had a chance to be absorbed. The solution? Make your own water reservoir ‘halos’. It’s never been easier to start growing your own tomatoes with our Tomato Growing Kit. A real treat for have-a-go gardeners and those keen to grow their own veg, this deluxe kit contains the essentials you need to grow a bumper crop of tomatoes from seed to harvest – all you need is seeds and compost! Can be used on grow bags, pots (with a diameter of 26cm and above), raised beds and vegetable plots. There is no one definitive answer to this question. Some people believe that plant halos can help cucumbers grow better by providing them with extra warmth and light. Others believe that plant halos are unnecessary and that cucumbers will do just fine without them. Ultimately, it is up to the individual gardener to decide whether or not to use plant halos for their cucumbers. Because of the cold nights that we are still receiving at the moment, we are going to place some fleece over them. Place a cane into one of the 3 smaller holes in each halo to help support the tomato as it grows. I like to grow mine up strings in the greenhouse, but let’s use a cane for now. Fold the fleece over the halos and they will be perfectly safe and warm during the night, don’t forget to remove it by day.

Add some potting compost to the new container. Place an empty pot the same size as the original one into the middle of the container then continue to fill around it. Remove the pot to leave a ready-made hole. Take your plant out of its old pot, tease out the roots if necessary, then plant into position. Firm it in and water it. 3. Build a Bug Hotel Position your tomato plant in the center of the halo so that the top two or three sets of leaves are above the center ring. Holding the plant in place, fill the inner pot with soil or Container Mix from Step 2 to within 1.5" of the top. Step 5.In addition, our Plant Halos also feature a unique cane support system. 3 anchor slots surround the inner pot and provide the means for a rigid, wind resistant structure using bamboo canes (not included). A cane grip is included which allows for up to 4 canes to be joined at the peak of the bamboo structure. The cane grip cap is simply separated from the main moulding by the user. Our Plant Halos are manufactured from recycled, UV stabilised plastic and guaranteed for 5 years. Wigwam Grip

You can paint pots using non-toxic paints to prevent tainting any crops you plan to grow in them, or add textures by gluing on materials such as burlap or hessian, rope, or cloth. You can theme your pots to suit your taste. Add shells, beads or even mosaic pieces to create a snazzy pot that’s unique to you. 6. Use a Pot as a Harvesting Trug Anway, I digress! OK, once the tomato is all planted in, put a drop of water straight into the area that you have just sown to just settle them in and do water them again the next day too. The perfect growing companion for grow bags, large pots or any veg garden, Plant Halos offer an 'all in one' watering and crop support solution for popular crops such as tomatoes, peppers and beans. Plant Halos can be used on grow bags, pots (with a diameter of 26cm and above), raised beds, as well on traditional vegetable plots. The central inner pot creates a deeper planting zone which is particularly useful when used with grow bags as it allows a deeper planting zone to develop healthier plants. A 3.1 litre outer 'moat' features six 2.8cm (1") watering spikes which penetrate below the surface, delivering water direct to the plant's roots. This ensures that water and liquid feed are delivered at a reduced rate that the plant is better able to absorb, preventing wastage which is common with conventional watering. It typically takes between 3 and 6 hours for the water reservoir to drain fully, depending on the weather and soil conditions. Plant Halos also feature a unique cane support system. 3 anchor slots surround the inner pot and provide the means for a rigid, wind-resistant structure using a bamboo cane (not included). A cane grip cap to create a study wigwam is also included and allows for up to 4 canes to be joined (Canes not included). Plant Halos are manufactured from recycled, UV stabilised plastic and are guaranteed for 5 years. Dimensions: 29cm (11½") diameter, 13cm (5") high. Plus an extra 2.8cm (1") Water Spike.

Growing tomatoes with ring-culture pots entails covering the crop with a bottomless ring and layering compost layers between the rings at 10-14 days. As a result, when the tomato roots from its stem, it receives more water and nutrients from its growing bag than it does from the stem alone. You can add more potting compost or high quality garden compost into the halo at planting time, leaving enough space to water into it. This encourages roots to grow from the buried part of the stem, which will provide more support and nutrients for the plant. This also works for some other crops in the same family, such as peppers. Our new and unique Plant Halo Grow Pots offer an ‘all in one’ watering and crop support solution. Popular and thirsty crops such as tomatoes, peppers and beans greatly benefit. Plant Halos can be used on grow bags, pots (with a diameter of 26cm and above), raised beds, as well on traditional vegetable plots. Press the Tomato Halo firmly into the soil and ensure that all the spikes are fully buried. Step 4.
