About this deal

Whissin Non-Alcoholic Drink is produced by Industrias Espadafor, a company based in Granada, Spain. For four generations, the company has been producing non-alcoholic beverages after originally focusing on local wine and soft drinks. The name Whissin is a mashup of whiskey and sin, meaning “without” in Spanish. The bottle has a no-nonsense design, like something you would find alongside inexpensive mixers at your local corner store. Lyre’s is an Australian beverage company offering “crafted homages to the intensity, balance, and beauty of the time-tested classics.” The name was inspired by the Australian Lyrebird, the world’s greatest mimic. I have found their White Cane Spirit to be an excellent rum substitute, so hopes are high for Lyre’s American Malt. The non-alcoholic vermouth substitute Versin is from the same producers in the Granada region of Andalucia where vermouth is traditionally enjoyed served on its own or over ice as an aperitif. Such rules are not applicable to alcohol-free whiskeys, and producers generally have the freedom to use any method they think is best. Usually, non-alcoholic spirits use botanicals and other compounds to mimic the flavors of alcohol. Rye Whiskey: Made in the U.S. this style of whiskey must contain 51% rye grain, and can be blended with other grains like corn or malted barley. It’s characteristically spicy, with flavors like anise or clove.

Another method involves distilling a neutral grain spirit, then distilling again to remove the alcohol. The mixture is then blended with flavorings and essences to create the final product. Now the market is well tuned, the big names in the gin business such as Gordons have joined the foray and these massive brands have taken the wind out of the sails of many new comers. As the low- and no-alcohol trend continues its unstoppable rise, we round up the latest zero-alcohol ‘spirits’ offering an alternative to booze. SB presents seven non-alcoholic ‘spirits’ brands Country of Origin: USA | ABV: 0% | Tasting Notes: Clove, charred oak, apple cider, sweet corn Final VerdictNormally, whiskey production is bound by certain rules and regulations. For instance, bourbon must be made from a mash with no less than 51% corn and aged in new charred oak barrels. Combine the strawberries and sugar in a sealable container, and leave in the fridge overnight to infuse. Blend the strawberry sugar mix with Verjus then strain through a muslin cloth. Store syrup in the fridge. Honey spiced “lemonai de” nCreated by Industrias Espadafor in Andalucia, Spain, WHISSIN is designed as an alternative to whisky. WHISSIN has never been fermented, making this 1998 winner of the SIAL D’OR award, the perfect addition to your alcohol-free collection. I tried the other two in an alcohol free Old Fashioned, so it’s only fair to compare…..[tasting]…..Absolutely not. Don’t try that at home. On the bottle, there is a recommendation to dilute Whissin 1:6. That sounds like a highball, so maybe this is more a mixer than a spirit. 6 parts club soda, 1 part Whissin. Tokyo karaoke nights are calling! After trying, it’s still not great. If you love a whiskey highball, you won’t think this tastes like one. It’s still quite sweet. It’s drinkable, but not very tasty. That last bit is definitely true for non-alcoholic whiskey, and non-alcoholic spirits in general. Every brand is using a different set of essences and botanicals to craft a non-alcoholic beverage that mimics the flavor of whiskey. Most non-alcoholic whiskey is not in fact zero alcohol, but rather contains 0.5% or less alcohol by volume, same as kombucha and some ripe fruit. HOW TO MAKE NON ALCOHOLIC WHISKEY?

A continuance of the heightened health awareness among consumers has shone a light on low- and no-alcohol drinks. How it’s made: Whiskey Alternative is made by distilling each botanical individually, blending them for the perfect balance, then microfiltering in batches for the final product. All the ingredients are listed on the label, which is refreshing and also helpful if you happen to have allergies or food sensitivities. It is free of common allergens. Alcohol-free whiskey can still be aged in oak barrels to develop deeper flavors that resemble real whiskey. It took him and his team about a hundred recipes before they could perfect their blend. They also made sure their drinks were free from sugar, nuts, calories, and gluten by using only natural ingredients. The next time you want to indulge in whiskey but don’t want to deal with alcohol, try the best alcohol-free whiskeys! And when you do, make sure to have an open mind so you can assess the flavors better and enjoy them more.
