About this deal

Electrical fault e.g. interior boot/glove box lighting, ECU/sensor interface issues where vehicle does not go into “Sleep” after parking for more than 5 minutes, wiper
motor fault If the alternator regulator is not set properly, or alternator voltage control circuit fails, then the battery can be subjected to an excessive charge. Yuasa Silver car batteries allow around 50,000 engine starts, compared to around 20,000 on a normal battery.

Yuasa are one of the world's largest manufacturers and suppliers of valve regulated lead-acid batteries with global manufacturing plants and an extensive marketing and distribution network throughout the UK and Europe. Different battery manufacturing design techniques can significantly effect the reading on one digital conductance tester as common algorithms have to be used. For example, batteries designed with more durability in mind tend to carry more material and higher density, this is usually reflected in a lower initial voltage, but longer discharge times. Digital testers can only determine realistically the initial internal resistance of the battery at the particular state of battery, not how much material is available. This can cause considerable difference between the indicated CCA data and the real CCA data obtained in a laboratory under real current loads to the appropriate battery standard specified. These maintain a fixed, constant, pre-set voltage throughout the charging period. The current cannot be set and will fall as the battery state-of-charge increases. C. Charge the battery at the recommended charge rate. If you cannot set the recommended rate, extend or reduce the charging time on a pro rata basis. For example, if the recommendation is to charge the battery at 4.0A for 6 hours (24Ah = 4.0 x 6), charge the battery for 12 hours if you can only set the charger at 2.0A (24Ah = 2.0 x 12). It is good practice to wait for about 20 minutes for the gases to clear before removing the leads from the battery as some chargers remain ‘live’ and can cause a spark.

When fitting the charger to the battery, connect the positive lead to the positive terminal and the negative lead to the negative terminal. If you are collecting instore from our Swindon branch we can dispose of the old battery free of charge.

If a battery is allowed to stand in a discharged state either on or off a vehicle for a period of time, a chemical reaction takes place which will permanently impair the performance and life of the battery, this process is called “sulphation”. Can't find what you're looking for? In most cases we are able to trace your vehicle by accessing an online database. From here we can tell the make, model, engine size and equipment level of your car, mpv, 4x4 or van and match up the correct battery. There are many types of charger available; their working principles and the procedure for using these is given below. Smart ChargersIt should be noted that a vehicle fitted originally by manufacturer with an AGM battery should be replaced only with an AGM battery. Likewise, a vehicle originally fitted with an EFB battery should only be replaced by and EFB or AGM battery. Yuasa lead-acid batteries are built to the highest standards. They are manufactured, in most cases to correspond with or exceed the vehicle manufacturer’s requirements and specifications. As above, every time a battery is charge and discharge cycled a small amount of material is lost. If a battery is subjected to deep discharging (greater than 35%) and rapid charging the process is accelerated. Additionally if the recharge does not recover the discharge cycle in full, the battery will exhibit loss of performance and concentration of the acid can occur between plates which can lead to corrosion and loss of performance. D. Charge the battery for the number of hours shown in the table below depending on the open-circuit voltage. B. These chargers should be able to charge over discharged (below 11.00V) batteries. Note that some have a special setting for all-calcium batteries. Constant Current Chargers

C. Note. The majority of constant potential chargers are incapable of charging a severely over discharged (below 11.00V) battery in a realistic period of time. A minimum of 24 hours is normal. It might be impossible to charge an over discharged battery. Modified Constant Potential Chargers B. Never boost-charge any battery that is below 11.00 Volts as it will be too sulphated to accept a charge; scrap the battery or charge normally. The majority of commercial chargers, particularly home-chargers, are of this type, and allow neither the voltage nor the current to be preset. Use the same procedure as for Constant Potential Chargers in the paragraph above. Boost ChargersDue to the high demands of the OEM market and the technical and manufacturing standards of Yuasa batteries, the rate of genuine manufacturing faults is negligible.

The condition of battery cables and terminal connections can influence the reading on the hand held tester. The batteries recommended within this Yuasa application list are equal to or above the original equipment specification. Fitting a smaller or less powerful battery will result in a shorter service life and earlier failure. The failure will normally be seen as deep cycling/premature wear and tear. It also features a rollover proof lid for extra safety, making it ideal for cold weather climates and superior power & performance. Three times greater cycle resistance than standard batteries: highest E4 classification pursuant to EN 50342-1.C. Only use a boost-charger that limits the charging voltage to a maximum of 14.2 Volts and that has a temperature monitor. A. Ideally, charge each battery on a separate charger unit. If this is not possible, charge batteries in series. We do not recommend charging batteries in parallel because it is not possible to control the amount of current passing through each battery. If batteries in different states-of-charge are being charged in series, each battery should be removed as soon as it is charged. (If you wait until the last battery is charged, some of the batteries will be overcharged). Typically seen in a battery within 12 months service life. One cell will show a dramatically lower acid specific gravity reading than the others. The problem cell will usually boil visibly under a high discharge, all other remaining cells will show a good specific gravity reading of 1.26 or above. Short Circuit/dead cells seen in later life are usually associated with the recovery of a sulphated/overdischarged battery. It is possible to see variable acid specific gravities between cells if sulphation is the route cause.
