About this deal

The X3700H is one of the latest AV receivers from Denon. It’s a 7.2-channel receiver with support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, and it’s also 4K HDR compatible. In terms of power output, the X3700H is rated at 105 watts per channel (8 ohms, 20 Hz – 20 kHz, 0.08% THD). See last half of what I wrote in my first post in this thread (post #8). I can't say it any shorter or clearer. Enjoy high quality 3D audio & video knowing that AVR-X6700H IS 8K READY WHEN YOU ARE; This high-power amplifier capable of 13.2 channel processing allows to build your choice of speaker configuration;... While Onkyo started out making affordable, mass-market products, it has since shifted its focus to high-end A/V equipment. Today, Onkyo is one of the most respected names in home theater, known for their build quality, innovative features, and excellent sound quality. Built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi with 2.4GHz/5GHz dual band support: Solid wireless network connectivity even in congested environments.

It’s touches such as this that indicate that the AVC-X3800H has been built with longevity in mind, and its connectivity spec seems to echo that. There’s almost certainly no one eyeing up this amp who has six 8K sources right now, but when the next resolution revolution happens, the AVC-X3800H is ready. my observation so far is, Denon movie experience is way better than my previous Yamaha RX-A1020 but for music(stereo), I feel Yamaha is better. But for those who are looking to take the next step, it provides a good amount of coverage and is 8K capable. This comes in stark contrast with competitors like Yamaha, who have the AVENTAGE home theater receiver. My observation so far is, Denon movie experience is way better than my previous Yamaha RX-A1020 but for music(stereo), I feel Yamaha is better. If you find you want a bit more headroom in the future, bi-amping is always an option - especially with a 5.1 system (with 9 channels you can bi-amp and still even add front heights!).

If surround sound is of utmost importance, it’s doubly important to make sure your intended speaker configuration can be driven by a receiver. It is absolutely vital to research all the components of your home theater setup and make sure that they can work in harmony.

Product highlights:

With bi amping, the explosion will be slightly quieter with all simultaneous sounds unaffected (speech etc is still clear). Using just one channel, speech and other sounds become a garbled mess SOONER In our test room, we use Audyssey MultEQ XT32 to calibrate our 7.2.4 system, which uses Dolby Atmos toppers. For most of our reviewing, the AVC-X3800H is in its Pure Direct Mode. Use all nine channels in a 5.1.4 or 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos® or DTS:X™ system, or go with a more modest surround sound setup and repurpose the extra channels for music in another zone. There are wonderful details of the bottles, cans and newspapers spilling out of the glove compartment, the revving engine and the maniacal ringing of the railway crossing bell, and then just the still of the cicadas in the night when the clamour suddenly stops.

UNMATCHED 3D REALISM FOR YOUR HOME THEATER SYSTEM – Enjoy Immersive surround sound with Auro-3D, IMAX Enhanced, DTS Virtual:X and Dolby Atmos and crisp, clean picture with advanced video processing,...What I heard: DAC in v2: top octave is not as bright and more detailed midrange. v1 was more fatiguing (comparatively, I don't mean to say it's bad, it's not - just a little bright compared to v2 and neutral). I couldn't tell if fatigue was because of more top end or more distortion - at the end of the day it doesn't matter. I went with v2, and you have v2 available. It remains engaging at low volumes, too, which will please the neighbours once you’ve had enough of turning it right up and wondering at how its composure remains intact. I think we need a lot less features and better quality of core functions on all brands. Put the bells and whistles on peripheral units. After all I only use the unit as a switcher and volume control, with bass management basically. So I just set levels, and crossovers, then it is just a switch and volume control. The FM tuner is not of the quality of previous models, so I use an external FM tuner. The Internet radio sounds awful, so I use my DAW for that. I dislike Audyssey intensely. That is a serious quality spoiler. No, Denon is not made by Onkyo. The two companies are competitors in the home audio market, with Denon being a Japanese company and Onkyo being a Taiwanese company. While they both offer high-quality products, there are some key differences between them.
