About this deal

Shooting in Kill Team 2nd Edition has also had a bunch of tweaks which, combined, would seem to make the game much deadlier, taking cover much more important, and those increased wound counts much more appropriate.

If you are a scatter enthusiast like me, you saw these cure lil trailers and likely thought “I must have them”. They really were a joy to build and paint, and I can see myself getting a ton of mileage out of them in future Necro and Kill Team tables alike. With the larger trailer, the side assembly can be a bit uneven – I would recommend using plastic glue and putting the piece down right side up on an even surface to keep the sides straight. This set contains 20 miniatures – 10 all-new beastly gentlemen of the Fellgor Ravagers, and 10 Hearthkyn with a generous upgrade sprue to make all sorts of deadly specialists. The Heavy Intercessors retain that tried-and-tested Space Marine look, whilst simultaneously being just different enough to set them apart from your run-of-the-mill Primaris and other Intercessors. They also come with a few optional extras: holsters, pouches, knives, and so-on – just ways to get your Space Marines stand out. Instead, you’ll choose the members of your Kill Team from a pre-set menu of operator types, with different loadouts, depending on what faction you’re playing –with strict quotas limitingcertain operator types for each faction, tokeep games balanced. GW says it’s a system designed to “give true close combat specialists a real moment to shine”. We’ll be watching this portion very closely.

This is a complete set of ten unique sculpts – no duplicated sprue of five here! All but one of the poses are great – there’s one hunched over running pose that I think doesn’t quiiiiite work, but it’s not bad enough to actually matter. It also comes with two of each special weapon (other than the sniper rifle), each with a slightly different set of arms. This is where my only real complaint about the set lies – if you want to use them in Kill Team and aren’t just buying for your 40k army, it’s fairly easy to make an illegal squad. You must read the composition rules in the rulebook first rather than relying on the instruction manual, as you’re only allowed to take one of each weapon (to a maximum of four total, including the sniper rifle). The Strategic Phase, meanwhile, lets you spend any gathered Command Points on Strategic and Tactical Ploys. These faction-specific buffs grant temporary boosts to your units’ stats, such as the Death Korps of Kriegs’ ability to overcharge their lasguns for extra damage. Gallowdark scenery – mostly like the Into the Dark box, but with some added turrets and obstacles that the rulebook in the box has rules for. Getting a knife in the ribs is just as lethal as it sounds, and only your own skills as a duelist will protect you when a very angry Ork charges in for the kill – which is every bit as cool to play out on the tabletop as you’d expect. Up next is the Psychic Phase. Your magic-users of the far future blow each other (or themselves) up – or not, depending on range, psychic ability, and so on.As far as the rules went, however, whilst they were great fun (once we eventually got our heads around them), even as novices we agreed that the expansion felt heavily weighted in favour of the Space Marines. With plenty of tactics to support shooting and cover, and a lot of the map filled with corridors and open spaces, the Flayed Ones were damned from the get-go, and once they were out of the way the Chronomancer never really stood a chance. Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team: Pariah Nexus Review – Price and Availability The latter was largely due to fan frustration at a much-anticipated, popular 40k unit (the Space Marines’ Heavy Intercessors) being, initially, only available through the Pariah Nexus box. Instead, GW has given Kill Team the honour of fanfaring in War Zone Octarius, the “next major narrative supplement for Warhammer 40,000”. Fair warning though – reading them may cause you to become attached to the warriors in your kill team, and if the name of the game is anything to go by, they may not be around forever…

Hierotek kill teams, which give us a new upgrade sprue for the Immortals/Deathmarks kit and a new model for the Apprentek The rules for this kill team can be found in the Ashes of Faith book or in the Kill Team Annual 2023. You can read our guide for these mutated monstrosities here. Hearthkyn Salvager This issue includes rules for the Hunter Clade Kill Team. Read our guide for these stalking servants of the Omnissiah here. These rules have also been collected in the Kill Team Annual 2022 book. Kill Teams released Inquisitorial AgentIf you’re playing a narrative Spec Ops campaign (more on that below), equipment works a little differently. Rather than freely choosing any item that takes your fancy, your squad will earn rare pieces of equipment throughout their campaign, which look to be decidedly deadly. Everything is thin and spindly. Legs don’t line up, feet are wonky, flimsy bladed fingers need to be slotted onto tiny hands that are crossed in front of narrow chests. It’s as if these things have been designed to be as difficult as possible to put together.
