About this deal

Fisheye lenses provide photographers with a greater depth of field, enabling them to capture sweeping landscapes. The sharpness and image quality also remains incredibly consistent, while including interesting foreground elements at the same time. Creative and Unique Images Lens hoods are more prominent in long focus lenses because they have a smaller viewing angle than that of wide-angle lenses. For wide angle lenses, the length of the hood cannot be as long as those for telephoto lenses, as a longer hood would enter the wider field of view of the lens.

Fisheyes enable photographers to creatively bend their subject, creating a beautiful snow globe effect while using close-up. The clarity also remains constant throughout the focal range. Greater Depth of Field In March 1957, two years before the release of the Nikon F, this lens was upgraded to the Fish-eye-NIKKOR 16.3mm f/8 lens, and built into a Weather photography system (Weather Recording System) using 120 format B/W film. The majority of buyers were impressed with the sharpness and image quality the Sigma 15mm offered. They loved its high-quality build and the colors it captured. Customers found it to be quiet and fast and stated that they had a lot of fun shooting with this lens. However, users were disappointed with the fact that the lens cover did not fasten to the unit. Optical vignetting is caused by the physical dimensions of a multi-element lens. Rear elements are shaded by elements in front of them, which reduces the effective lens opening for off-axis incident light. The result is a gradual decrease of the light intensity towards the image periphery. Optical vignetting is sensitive to the aperture and can be completely cured by stopping down the lens. Two or three stops are usually sufficient. I've rotated the dashed line to cross the points we want to measure. This allows us to make accurate angular calculations. Step 6: Calculate from the Correct PointsA model with excellent optical quality is essential in panoramic photography. Since you’re going to be working with a closed diaphragm to achieve maximum depth of field, you’ll experience diffraction effects and a slight loss in sharpness. Hence, make sure that the model you choose has excellent center sharpness. Pros and Cons of Fisheye Lenses The basic lens composition of the OP Fisheye is the same as the 7.5mm f/5.6, but a large-diameter aspherical front lens is used to achieve orthographic projection. If sharpness is the goal, better results would likely be achieved at an aperture setting of f/8 to f/11.

If you need an affordable diagonal fisheye lens, then the Sigma is a perfect choice. Designed with a gel filter holder, the unit is ideal for filmmakers who experience difficulty with high native ISOs. It can also be used for wedding photography to give a more artistic look, scenic photography, and underwater photography. It seems that the subject field curves farther away as you leave the center. IN other words, focus on something a few feet away in the center, and the distant objects at the sides will be in better focus. There are other lens manufacturers that also make fisheye lenses that will work on Nikon F-mount DSLR cameras.

The orthographic projection OP Fisheye, on the other hand (Fig. 2.), resolves the celestial image onto the film. Almost all buyers loved the NIKKOR 16mm and had a lot of fun using it. They found it to be extremely fast and were impressed with its image quality, with one user even stating that it added great artistic opportunities. While customers liked its lightweight design, they were disappointed with the poor quality of the lens cover. Below are some photos I’ve taken with this lens. You can find my detailed hands-on review here and more sample images I’ve taken with it here. Photo taken with a Nikon 16mm f/2.8 full-frame fisheye lens on a NIKON D810 at 16mm and ƒ / 8.0. Considering this, as well as the way in which the relationship between the object and image planes is defined, is extremely important. This is because image quality varies depending upon the way in which the relationship between the object plane and the image plane is defined. With common narrow angle lenses, the relationship between the object plane and the image plane is considered as a flat plane to a flat plane. However, with fisheye lenses that have an angle of view of 180° or more, considering the object plane as a flat plane theoretically leads to problems. For example, when a subject is three meters away, the distance to that subject is three meters when it is positioned at the center of the frame. But where is the subject for light from the 180° angle of view? The answer is infinity. On an FX body, the 8mm end gives a circular fisheye in the center of the frame. At 15mm, it fills the frame. The circular fisheye look isn’t something I need often, but dedicated fisheye enthusiasts will appreciate the flexibility, as well as the ability to switch easily between FX and DX bodies.Along with having practical uses, many photographers adopted the fisheye because of the distorted, unique images it captured. They used it to capture intriguing photographs of numerous subjects, ranging from portraits to still life. Tale 53 is about a fisheye lens. Just what sort of lens is a full-frame fisheye lens? What was the world's first fisheye lens to incorporate a close-range correction mechanism? How did the lens perform? Note that there are limitations. This lens does not have a built-in autofocus motor and thus relies on the camera’s motor for autofocus. But not all Nikon camera bodies have that built-in. It mainly affects older models and lower models (such as the Nikon D3X00 and D5X000 series in the DX bodies.) The lens will work on those cameras, but it will have to be manually focused. [ ↩]

As shown in Fig. 1., the equidistant projection method used in prior fisheye lenses like the 8mm f/8 and 7.5mm f/5.6 resolved the image on the film so that the light beam angle of incidence was proportional to the image height (distance from the image center). The fisheye lens has a wide picture angle, making it difficult to shoot without including strong light sources, but the OP Fisheye (although it only has a single-layer coating) can be used with confidence because it does not suffer from severe ghosting even when the sun is in the image directly. While resolution is relatively good at the center of the frame, sharpness gradually drops as image height increases. However, even at the extreme edges of the frame, image quality appears sufficient for practical use. In addition, colors are sharp with little bleed. f/4 to f/5.6 Not to brag, but I designed the Ai AF Fisheye-Nikkor 16mm f/2.8D when I was just 28 years old. At that time, I became interested in the depth of fisheye lenses, and was put in charge of development of the lens with the switch to AF. Vignetting is present in the corners of the frame, resulting in a tunnel vision effect that makes the scene appear to be confined inside a round circle.
