About this deal

But that does not mean neglect of superior Sennheiser technologies. A 42 mm fullrang driver being engineered in best tradition is transducing signals into sound. Most listeners will probably rely on Bluetooth to deliver the material. No worries about sound quality when chosing this convenient option: high-quality codecs AAC, aptX and aptX Adaptive are integrated. Both iPhone and Android users can therefore benefit from high quality. Marlow, UK, June 15, 2022 – The Sennheiser MOMENTUM range continues to redefine the standard for sophisticated listening through superior sound. Now, the upcoming MOMENTUM 4 Wireless over-ear headphones raise the bar even higher, with best-in-class sound, advanced Adaptive Noise Cancellation and an all-new design offering exceptional comfort. The battery life is rated at an outstanding 60 hours. Enhanced EQ Settings: Users have expressed a desire for more comprehensive EQ settings. While the existing settings are fairly robust, a more expansive range could allow users to further customize their listening experience, tailoring the audio output to their specific preferences. The Momentum on-ear series has long been one of our favourites, from the wired models to the wireless version, the Momentum Wireless 3 was awarded five stars by us when they launched in 2019. Here are a few reasons that could justify the launch of a Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 series: Personalized sound via the Sennheiser Smart Control App: Adjust the sound to your individual listening preferences via the integrated equalizer, presets and sound modes - for a unique sound experience. We've added a comparison between these headphones and the Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2 Wireless in Bluetooth. But, as you know, nothing is eternal and last year Sennheiser – due to some financial(?) difficulties – had to split its business and sold the consumer/audiophile section to Sonova – another giant company, that specializes in hearing-aids – while keeping the professional section for itself, aka Neumann and HD-25.

In terms of comfort, this new design doesn't initially look that well padded, but what cushioning there is is more than sufficient because the relatively wide headband does a great job of distributing pressure across your crown so that nothing wears heavily or pinches, even after several hours of wear. And the clamping force is good, but not aggressively so. Three years later and, refreshingly, the fourth edition arrive at a cheaper price than the previous model. Aesthetically they’re simpler and less flashy, though: more about function and less about style. And that’s why the new Sennheiser Momentum 4 is so important: it’s not just the fourth version of the brand wireless flagship, it’s also the first Momentum built under the Sonova presidency. Has the torch been passed on? Time to discover that The Momentum Series When users need to talk to others or hear surrounding sounds without removing their MOMENTUM 4 Wireless, the versatile Transparency Mode lets them hear outside sounds through the headphones at a touch. And for a truly tailored experience, the Sennheiser Smart Control app makes it easy to customize the sound using the built-in EQ, sound modes and the new Sound Personalization feature. This assesses the user’s listening preferences and adjusts the listening experience according to their taste.

The Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds deliver crisp balanced sound thanks to the new 8.4mm driver under the hood. In our review of the WF-1000XM5s, we said that they delivered a "zealous, exciting listen" with "crisp bass weight".In fact, we decided that if bass is your thing, then these are the buds for you, hands down. Unless you stayed inside a cave for the last century, you must be accustomed to Sennheiser. A company that’s been in the business for more than 75 years now, who sold hundreds of millions of headphones – even billions if you count the earphones – both for audiophiles and sound professionals. In fact, some headphones, like the HD650 or HD-25 have been in the brand catalog for more than thirty years now, that’s almost as old as I am! Wind noise is also handled well, the design of the headphones reducing the effect of the turbulent air as it passes by (something that does affect the WH-1000XM4). The strength of the noise cancellation does tend to go up and down, though; initially, I thought this was as a result of the “adaptive” part of the noise cancellation. But it seems the headphones’ mics can be a little erratic, unexpectedly letting in noise and then closing up the seal.

Sennheiser’s fourth-generation cans shine sonically, despite their plain looks

To adjust the headphones on the head, the swivelling hinges offer a degree of movement, while the headband has an adjustable slider. The headband is also wider, absorbing pressure across the head. It’s covered in a nice fabric that mimics the case of the Momentum True Wireless 3. Its underside is finished in a silicone material, with a soft centre to accommodate that slight ridge on the top of people’s skulls – a thoughtful consideration. They weigh 293g, but feel lighter. The forthcoming Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless has an all-new design and promises exceptional sound & performance The Sony WF-1000XM4 delivered good ANC, but not best-in-class –look to the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds 2 for the top ANC around. And while Sony worked hard to improve this by adding a new, bigger driver unit to deliver richer audio, clearer vocals and better levels of immersion – as well as an integrated processor and three mics per earbud compared to the two mics in the WF-1000XM4s – we weren't blown away. Coming from a pair of Sony XM3, the Momentum 4 are a step-down. They aren't uncomfortable, but could be better. The ear cups are on the smaller side. For my ears, it's barely big enough. The headband padding could be a bit firmer, or have more padding. Sennheiser hasn’t lost its touch for making impressive headphones, but can the Momentum 4 Wireless win out over their close competitors? Design

Market Competition: A new release could help Sennheiser stay competitive by offering an up-to-date product that can match or surpass rivals’ offerings in terms of features, quality, and performance. As read in the intro, the Momentum 4 were sent to me by Sennheiser as part of the review tour and yes, I am a long time appreciator of the Momentum line of headphones. Do not let this be of concern as my words are always honest and free of influence, and the way I am approaching this review will be both subjectively critical and highly objective where possible. I am not fanatically loyal; The Momentum 4 Wireless have large shoes to fill and will not shy away from delivering tough love if warranted. Now, without further delay, my review of the Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless! The Momentum 4 Wireless come bearingBluetooth 5.2, which means they can simultaneously connect to multiple Bluetooth devices and switch between them more easily –there's a nice connection management tab in the app to see your devices. There’s also support for apt X and aptX Adaptive, aka one of the newest and best Bluetooth codecs around. Construction and comfort wise, I must say I was impressed… not that I had any worries. Sennheiser doesn’t make flimsy uncomfortable garbage, period. Yes, they didn’t feel as “premium” on my head, though I am unsure if that’s was more of an unconscious bias rather than a physicality. Overall they felt good. Light, non-irritating, and upon walking over to the mirror I actually gave them a nod, not of approval rather to see how well they stayed in place, in which they did to a satisfactory level. This did warrant a thumbs up, to be fare but looks wise they still irked me. The Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless are some of the very best-sounding, longest-lasting and the most comfortable noise-cancelling headphones available.

JBL Partybox 110 with app review

This isn’t to say that the Sennheiser headphones underwhelm – they’re strong when dealing with crowd noise, hushing voices, as well as handling traffic on a busy day in central London just fine. They impress in a variety of environments. But whether listening in their ANC or Adaptive modes, the Bose and the Sony deliver a quieter performance; there remains a degree of ambient noise that I can hear through the Sennheisers. The clarity of the Transparency mode is very clear and detailed, up there with the best, and doesn’t affect the quality of the audio. Image credit: Sennheiser and Sony ) Sony WF-1000XM5 vs Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3: Battery In terms of performance and sound quality, connectivity, and signal stability, both headphones were virtually identical. Not much else to say.
