About this deal

Jyn suffers from her role not being very in demand in Legion. Like Han she needs to get uncomfortably close to the enemy and doesn’t always have a lot of great ways to get there. Situational Awareness was still a ways off, so she was vulnerable to critical fire, and her command cards were only so-so while her damage was also quite low. Not a bad hero, but struggled to stand out especially with the upcoming heroes the faction had. Rebel Troopers DLT 20A– The rebels have achieved range. The DLT is an amazing piece for the rebels especially in a more tactical play style. Unlike Droids, who are also generally delicate, you can’t afford to lose your units quite so easily, and you’ll feel every loss. It’s very much a “glass cannon” faction with strong but delicate units you must maneuver into ideal positions to take out the enemy and not get torn apart from retaliating fire. Strengths and Weaknesses If you used a small drop of glue to apply the model, the foot will pop right off the base fairly easily. Always cut AWAY from yourself to prevent injury (stitches from X-Acto knife cuts aren’t fun). To attach the miniature to the base, use a little hobby glue.

With this we come to the most recent rebel release, Din Djarin aka The Mandalorian. It’s hard to say where he stands right now, there haven’t really been enough events with him to say for certain. He seems solid, particularly at mid to close range, but he’s in a faction with lots of Operatives also competing in that role. It’ll likely be a bit before we know for sure. What’s Next? You may take one of these for each Rebel Veteran you take, and they’re generally worth it when the option is there. At 38 points it helps offset the cost of the Rebel Vet, and they’re excellent for establishing killzones. With Fire support they can throw extra dice into the pool of another unit, and it does not have to be the Veteran unit. Han, Leia or the Officer can add sharpshooter to the pool if they they fire together, for example. If there aren’t any good targets for them, it is wise to keep them on standby with their built in sentinel. Their chief role is to guard important zones. Support

Step 4: Highlights

R2-D2– You have to buy an unfortunately overpriced terrain piece to get him but R2 opens up a lot of options for rebels. Notably, his Secret Mission can score you an extra point and in Legion, where games are frequently resolved on small margins it can mean the difference between winning or going to kill points for a tie breaker. Conclusion These are the units almost anyone will want to have. While they may not go into every list you ever make (there certainly isn’t enough space) they will tend to fit in a wide variety of different lists, or are so good you’re liable to want to take them often.

Cassian was already a staple of Rebel lists before the points update, and then he got a ten point reduction via his now-free gun. Cassian brings reliable unlimited range damage that bypasses most defensive tech, and he does it while fulfilling your Commander slot. His command cards also offer excellent support to other Rebel characters. He’s a particularly good match for Ahsoka or Boba, who both feature high on this list. If you are running a Rebel list without Cassian, you need a really good reason for it. K-2SOScout Trooper Strike Team– These long range snipers are a great clean up crew and add even more of that sweet suppression. For newer players, make sure you know that the card has been errata’d these are range 5 now, effectively making them snipers. Which is good because they can’t move. As emplacement troopers you want them to go early to get a standby set up because of their built in Sentinel. Place them on a good vantage point to guard your objectives and dare your enemy to come forward. Heavy Faction-specific, which offer minor bonuses anyone in a given faction can use, but usually only affect specific units. Not only does the miniature included here bring a totally new sculpt of Luke Skywalker to your Star Wars: Legion battles, you have the freedom to customize it to fit your personal taste. The miniature can be assembled carrying either Luke’s lightsaber or his DL-44 blaster and with or without his flight helmet. Additionally, if you decide to include the flight helmet, you can also choose whether Luke enters battle with its visor up or down.

If you plan on playing outside of your home at any point in the future either competitively or just at a store you will need to get Priority Supplies and Vital Assets. Ultimately, Star WarsLegion is more than just a game—it’s an invitation to create an army that only you could have built, gathering troopers, vehicles, and iconic characters from the Star Wars saga and pitting them against your opponent’s army in battle. The first step in building your army is to select your side and choose the units that will make up your army. Even within the Core Set, you already have impactful choices to make with units of Rebel Troopers and Stormtroopers, along with 74-Z Speeder Bikes, an AT-RT, Darth Vader, and Luke Skywalker. You may be planning to play out a small-scale skirmish between just a few units or a massive battle, but either way, the units that you choose are the foundation of your army. We might as well continue the Echo Base theme here. Tauntauns have always been disruptive and annoying units, and now you can take them for their original cost again (remember when they were meta defining terrors?) You can also take four of them in Echo Base, and there is almost certainly some unexplored territory there. Having actually gotten to test it out I leave a bit underwhelmed. The over-reliance on emplacements makes the gameplay style very passive, and requires your opponent to come to you, which means that it can struggle pretty bad if your opponent has good long ranged fire to keep the emplacement troopers away from their precious standby tokens. Legion, frequently, is a game that rewards the bold willing to take decisive action.

With his buff alongside Han, Chewie is a really good take, especially if you bring Han. Rebels are delicate, and while Chewbacca may have an awful save he can tank those hits real good where everyone else in your army can’t really afford to. Alongside Han they compliment each other with Teamwork and make a devastating team to lead the vanguard pushing into enemy territory. R2-D2 Saber Tank– Aggressive, big, and fast. These tanks are no joke and are a force to recon with on any battle field. Lando probably had more excitement leading up to his release than he actually got once he saw the table. His Contingency mechanic was hyped up, allowing one to ostensibly increase their hand size by another 3 cards. In reality this mechanic was a bit unwieldy to use, and didn’t actually increase the number of cards you could play. Lando himself also doesn’t quite perform on the table as well as one would help, in a faction where Cassian exists as a better mid to short range gunner. Han would finally get his upgrade a few months after this as well, which sort of secured him as the better scoundrel. Boy, how I would love to just give these guys a good old fashioned generic heavy weapon that just added dice and did nothing else. Bistan is pretty solid, but he’s unique, and Pao doesn’t do what you need a heavy weapon upgrade to do (add offense), so you are probably limited to just one of these unless you are doing something specific with a bunch of infiltrating naked Pathfinders. Why can’t Melshi just walk over to a Rebel Trooper unit, pull rank, and commandeer one of those Z-6s that the Rebel Troopers probably weren’t using anyway? Wookiees (Ranged) For priming, this tutorial uses the Army Painter system, starting with Fur Brown, as it has a fantastic color match to other paints in the line. Just remember to never prime inside unless you have a good ventilation system! Always prime minis in a highly ventilated area, preferably outside.
