Montessori nurseries and schools have age-appropriate classrooms that let children learn through play using specially designed Montessori toys and resources.

Montessori teachers, also known as directresses, are highly trained and guide rather than instruct and focus on supporting children’s social and emotional development. counting to ten after asking something of them, before repeating it, to let them process what we’ve asked. This is an easy book to read with nice big type – great for tired parents! It is not a scientific review of the slow movement but a personal account from the author as he explores the art of slow with regard to children, food, sex etc. I really like his chapter on children and his conclusion. Very well balanced and a good reminder to us all to slow down and enjoy. when showing something, do it on your own paper. You don't know the child's intention and your input might jeopardize their plans.

The principles of Montessori education

I felt the same way when my children were small and I was struggling to get them to do things. I felt enormous empathy for them, but wasn’t sure what the alternative was to threatening, bribing or putting them into time out. Traditional parenting methods often confuse discipline with punishment. When using Montessori for toddlers, it is understood that discipline means “to teach”. Even in positive, gentle parenting environments, toddlers experience discipline on a daily basis. However, teaching does not coincide with the use of punishments such as time outs, behavior charts, taking away a favorite activity or toy, etc. Skills Learned by Montessori Toddlers In Montessori education, discipline is viewed as something that should come from the child itself and not be imposed. Teachers avoid rewards and punishment and only intervene if a child is disruptive. This book begins to give parents an insight into the world from their child’s point of view. It gives detailed advice to parents for babies from 0 to 3 years including setting up thehome environment, breastfeeding and weaning, and the role of the father.

This book takes a look at the big picture of parenting – how to instil values into your children, how to live as a family, and how to make your children resilient. I found this to be a really valuable book that puts it all into perspective.

Many simple Montessori activities for toddlers, such as dressing, eating, washing, etc., are well within the developmental capabilities of toddlers. In mixed-age classrooms, the younger children naturally learn from the older and teachers encourage children of all ages to work together. From birth to three years It’s been my mission since then to find another way. I’ve now been working in Montessori education for 15 years and love to learn from the 100+ toddlers and parents I see every week in my classroom. I am so happy to share with you what I have learned and help you understand your toddler better too.the tools to work together with your child – how you can lead, guide and support them, especially when they are having a hard time Since the mailman handed it to me a few weeks ago, I literally devour Simone’s book and love every single word in it!It not only shows how the Montessori philosophy can be lived at home, there are also many tips and ideas. This book is full of respect, mindfulness and love and not just to the toddler, but also to parents.” – Eltern vom Mars blog, Austria As most children start Reception classes at the age of four, Montessori school classes are generally divided into four to seven-year-olds and seven to 12-year-olds.

Many times I marveled at how applicable the advice is for our beloved fur babies. They have that same sense of innocence, curiosity and need for consistency to feel safe. Using Montessori for toddlers might sound like it requires a great deal of extra work or planning, but it actually is quite natural. Kind limits and boundaries instead of force, bullying, bribery. Emphasis on natural consequences instead of punishment.attempting to understand their perspective and not just being annoyed. (though i don’t think “toddlers are incapable of being malicious” or that being upset is always okay and should be accepted as long as no one’s hurt)
