About this deal

Installation, as with most other smart switches, requires a neutral wire, but it's fairly straightforward. The switch includes an ambient light sensor (so it can be set not to come on in daylight) and a motion sensor to automatically trigger the light. The latter feature worked seamlessly. If you turn it off with the switch, after a few minutes it will engage the motion sensor again, or you can disable the sensor via the app in case you don't want it switched on in the middle of the night. It has a maximum dimmable load of 280W (non-LED) and a current rating of 1 Amp. It comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty. This unit supports both ‘neutral wire’ and ‘no neutral wire’ operation and is our very latest release (current models to be phased out). The unit in addition to WiFi also supports BLE (Bluetooth low energy). A WiFi to Bluetooth hub can also be added if required. The only downside is that the switch, like all of Lutron's products, must be linked to the Smart Bridge. The bridge itself must be plugged into your router so that you can control it from your smartphone.

The switch can be operated manually, and in this case it’s a single-gang switch capable of turning a single light on and off. When controlled via the app, the switch’s internal mechanism is powered by a pair of included AAA batteries, which are neatly concealed within the switch. Installation is easy enough, but does require a basic understanding of home electrics.App: How easy was it to use the app that works with the switch? What sort of features do you get, such as scheduling when lights turn on and off? Activation dates, days of the week, start time and duration can all be pre-configured via the Smartlife application giving you complete remote control and ON/Off overwrite. See ‘how do I get started’– select from main menu above Even if you don't have a three-way switch, there's an easy way to get around it; many smart light switch makers now offer a remote, or companion switch that's battery-operated. All you have to do is attach the switch to your wall using screws or adhesive — no wiring required. While the previous Hue Smart Dimmer had separate on/off buttons, the v2 Switch has them as one. The switch also detaches from the wall mount itself, doubling as a convenient remote control.

Brilliant’s touchscreen panel lets you see and talk with a person at your door when a visitor activates your Ring Video Doorbell. def getHexEndpoint (index) { Integer.toHexString(getInitialEndpoint()+index).padLeft(2, "0").toUpperCase() } With a smart light switch connected to your external lighting for instance you’ll be able to set them to turn on and off at preset times automatically. A smart power point is a direct replacement for a traditional wall plate. Connected over your home WiFi network, smart power points allow you to make your home fully automated, controlling the lighting, fans and appliances remotely using the Grid Connect mobile app. They can be used to control any non-smart product you’d typically use switches for such as exhaust fans and lighting. What are the most common smart power point uses? This makes it easy for you to control the lighting hands–free. All you need to do is mutter out the voice commands. This function allows you to integrate your home lighting into your smart home system as well. Remote Control Despite being such a simple device, there are a few key questions you need to ask yourself when buying a smart light switch. Firstly, do you want a wireless switch for controlling a smart lighting system like Philips Hue? Or, do you want a wired switch that replaces your home’s existing wall-mounted switches and controls the regular light bulbs already installed? If a light fixture is controlled by more than one switch — for example, when you have a light switch at the top and bottom of a set of stairs — then you'll need to get a three-way smart light switch. However, if there's only one switch controlling an outlet, you can get a "single pole" switch.

Which type of switch you buy depends on what you want from your lighting. Do you want color-changing bulbs, or do you just want remote control of your existing bulbs? If it’s the latter, then a smart switch like the Tapo will be perfect for your needs. Are smart light switches hard to install?

I just fitted the Yagusmart single switch in my living room connected to my 7 LED downlights…and I am must say I am plesently surprised! This is a feature we like: If a smart light switch has this feature in its app, it will automatically turn your lights on and off randomly while you're away, to make it look like you're home.
