About this deal

Numbered amongst the most elite warriors in the Imperium. Created by the Emperor himself from the genetic material of the demigod Primarchs, they are the ultimate soldiers for a cruel and terrible age, waging war through a variety of forms, from the full weight of a chapter of 1,000 marines that can destroy entire species, to a small battle force of a few squads that can topple planetary governments and crush chaotic insurrections, either are lethal formations to any foe. The result? Tense, involved, but straightforward games that can be played in less than an hour.* There’s still plenty of nuance for Warhammer 40,000 experts to enjoy – swapping out Enhancements and Secondary Objectives to mix up their playstyle, and mastering each faction’s Combat Patrol in turn, without having to build up a full Incursion or Strike Force-sized army. Let’s pretend you’re going with Abaddon (which you could swap out for a Chaos Lord in Terminator Armour and maybe another 5 Terminators instead). That’s 500-ish points before wargear. Bolster your forces – be they Traitor or Loyalist – with this set of two Adeptus Astartes HQ options. Originally available in the Space Marine Heroes set, these two plastic miniatures can lead your forces in both the martial and spiritual arenas. The Praetor is clad in Cataphractii Terminator armour, wielding a chainfist and a combi-melta, while the Chaplain is in artificer armour with a plasma pistol and Crozius Arcanum. You also get a set of Horus Heresy transfers. Dice: Sons of Horus and Imperial Fists

Deliver sermons on the front lines safely with the latest in personal priesthood protection – the Chaplain in Terminator Armour. This walking behemoth of righteous fury is all-but immovable on the battlefield, and that’s before he straps on his optional relic shield. He can even choose between two variants of crozius arcanum. Company Heroes In addition, most advertising networks offer you a way to opt out of targeted advertising. I hope you enjoyed this, please let me know in the comments below how you would build a 1,000 point list from the Combat Patrol Box and why not also let me know what you think to my list. There may well be aspects of the codex or units that I have not included that you think should be, so why not let us know in the comments below. Also remember that you can use the Space Marine codex stratagem Unyielding in the Face of the Foe which, for 1 cp allows them to add +1 to their armour saves against weapons with damage 1. SANGUINARY ANCIENT A Sanguinary Ancient with Sanguinary Guard Each Combat Patrol is supposed to be balanced against all the others. That might be hard to believe when looking at the contents of the Adeptus Custodes box set, as the boys in gold are notoriously hard!

Previously only available in the Burning of Prospero boxed set, Geigor Fell-Hand is available separately, for the first time ever, in plastic. He’s champing at the bit to be let loose on the enemies of the Imperium, and will lead your Space Wolves to savage glory on the battlefields of the 31st Millennium. Legiones Astartes: Praetor and Chaplain Consul Each story can be bought separately as they release, but to get all five for the price of four, opt for the full-week subscription. Ah, the Blood Angels– noble and civilised sons of Sanguinius, most handsome, tragic, star-crossed and pretty of all the Emperor’s ‘Primarch’ sons. These renaissance Italy-themed space marines are among the most storied and popular chapters of the Adeptus Astartes. Over at Warhammer TV, the second explosive episode of Pariah Nexus stomps into view with glowing red eyes and fetching green armour. Citadel Colour Masterclass continues their series of Pariah Nexus-themed tutorials with an invaluable guide to painting freehand flame effects, and Loremasters peers into the mysterious ways of the Necron Deathmarks. Why Deathmarks, you ask? Oh, no reason…Combat Patrol uses simpler, one-side versions of the datasheet. You’ll also notice the red flash at the top of the Combat Patrol sheets – so you know you’re using the right one These rules, shaped by in-depth testing that saw old veterans and brand new Warhammer 40,000 players test their mettle against each other over many, many games, result in a mode of play that’s simple at first glance, yet full of depth. Fortunately, the Norn-Queens have been hard at work splicing together a new Combat Patrol box, which is ideal whether you’re brand new to the Tyranids or have been on board since Hive Fleet Behemoth was first sighted. Points-wise that drops us in at 1885 which is still shy of 2000. However, we haven’t spent any points on wargear! That’s where we’re going to leave it though as the Wargear is really up to you. Send In The Vanguard Space Marines GW has used two methods to attempt to balance the boxes against one another. First, although the models in the box set may have many weapon options, there’s a particular loadout you’re supposed to equip your models with.

Unfortunately, The value of the Space Marines combat patrol is really just based on a little less than half the contents of the Leviathan Starter Set, minus the Ballistus Dreanought, one extra squad of Infernus and the Sternguard Squad. The new edition of Warhammer 40,000 is rapidly incoming, and it’s an exciting time for fans of endless warfare in the 41st Millennium. Over the last few weeks, you’ve learned a bit about how Chapter Approved games offer matched play missions and different victory conditions in the new edition, so it’s time for the next of the flagship game modes – Combat Patrol. If you like close combat, then these are the Marines for you. Plus who doesn’t love sculpted nips and abs on armour? WHERE NEXT?Everything you need to play Combat Patrol – apart from the miniatures – will be available for free online when the new edition launches. Introducing a friend to the world of Warhammer 40,000 with the help of your collection has never been easier. You could even set up your own Combat Patrol event, or why not go wide and collect one Combat Patrol from every faction? From here you’ve got a little over 800 points left to work with and we still need to budget for Wargear. You’ve got a couple of Troops to grab objectives, you’ve got some Elites to offer up some support, and a few heavy lifters. It’s a solid core to build from. This is really where you’re own personal preferences would take over. Realistically, we need to save around 2-300 points for Wargear. So to play it safe, we’re going to just add another unit. You could go with more Chaos Marines but we’re going to mix it up with a “weird” option to expand our collection. A Venomcrawler, Obliterators, or Possessed could all be fun. I don’t think those are bad options for a brand new army.
