About this deal

When we honor and celebrate holidays from diverse cultures, we not only provide a mirror for students who share that culture but also a window for those who have yet to experience or learn about it. We can introduce students to new cultures, promote empathy, and cultivate a safe and inclusive environment for your learning community. I personally always been interested in the Day of the Dead myself – I like the idea of celebrating the dead and making the “morbid, less morbid”. So once again, we thought we would come together and share our Day of Dead Craft ideas in a video for you. I have then added some additional links for you peruse! Día de los Muertos Overview This activity does include talking about the death of family members or friends. Be especially sensitive if you know the topic of families is difficult for anyone. This activity gives everyone the chance to thin k about the helpful people in their lives, whoever they are. When teaching your kids about the unique holiday of Dia de los Muertos, a topic you can focus on is the Papel Picado, which comes in different colors, each signifying something important and meaningful. To illustrate the beauty of these, you can print and post this Printable Papel Picado around the classroom. The addition of this colorful resource will surely get your kids excited for the coming of this holiday!

On the día de los muertos families, will visit relatives at the graveyard with candies, treats, drinks and gifts by their graveside or ofrenda.
