Breezy” is not the word I would use for the palm side of a pair of gloves, even with the perforations in the palm (and the palm is on the hand grips, so there isn’t much ventilation through that area anyway).

So, while perfection for glove versatility will probably remain elusive for many years to come, the Held Air N Dry design is as close as you can get here in 2017. Overall, these are exceptional gloves and in my opinion they comfortably justify the price. A special dying technique ensures that our kangaroo leather is absolutely colour-fast, while a special tanning process makes it highly resistant to moisture and sweat. So in the end, there’s again some confusion on how best to employ the Air N Dry gloves. They don’t seem designed for cold weather, but they’re not really designed for warm weather either. And the word “Dry” for the top chamber could either mean “Use this chamber when it’s dry” or “This chamber keeps you dry”. Apparently, it’s the latter. Interestingly if a Gore-Tex fabric gets totally soaked will the water on the outside actually seal the fabric stopping the evaporation of steam trough it! That’s why all Gore-Tex is treated to not soak, but to create small droplets on the outside that can fall off.

I do agree these are not winter gloves, but I do think they are summer gloves. They don’t have a warmth layer, which is a plus for summer riding. They have dual chambers to provide a thin section with perforations for cooling airflow and a great feel for the bike’s controls. Another chamber is waterproof and lined with a Gore-Tex membrane to allow the hands to breathe and remain comfortable and dry in wet weather. But on the other hand (!), if the Gore-Tex chamber was on the bottom, you might lose the excellent heat transfer from heated grips that you get with the perforated leather (I tried it and it works). It also detracted from the feel for the bike’s controls, which is inevitable thanks to the extra weather protection they offer but there was a definite disconnected feeling to them.Switching to the Dry chamber, there is a plush lining that is designed to stay in place and not pull out and it feels cosseting and very comfortable.

Naturally, it is warmer than the Breezy side as there are no perforations in this chamber to ensure your hands stay warm and dry if the weather takes a turn for the worse. However, while they feel lovely when on the hand, I found that the fit in the dry chamber was not as good as that in the Breezy one.The fingers — with the exception of the thumb — feel a bit short, although the gloves are comfortable enough on the inside that it’s not too bothersome. Like the Breezy chamber, the width of the glove across my hand was spot on but the fingers and thumbs were too long which meant that they felt clumsy and ungainly and a couple of times, I found the tips of the fingers catching on the clutch and brake levers.
