Note: Liner notes read under "Greased Lightnin' (Single Version)" that single was issued by RSO in 1978 with catalog number RS909. Frank Wilson's success wasn't limited to being a top-flight singer and record producer. After he left Motown Records in 1976, he embarked on a career as a bestselling author. Sixties garage and psychedelic — these genres are very popular with collectors, often because the original releases were very limited. The Grateful Dead always sells well.

We have written an extensive article about the Beatles Butcher cover. You can read it here. (new window) Pawn shops, like records, have gone through their own ups and downs in terms of popularity, and right now, pawn shops are in vogue! It is possible to sell vinyl records to a pawn store, but you should phone ahead and inquire beforehand.

Tracklist

Bassist and vocalist Sid Vicious' girlfriend, Nancy Spungen, was found dead from a knife wound in a hotel room in New York on Oct. 12, 1978, and Vicious, although he had little recollection of the night in question, was arrested for her murder on Dec. 9, 1978. This record is actually a first pressing from 1983 that was released by the record label Tartown. That's roughly the album equivalent of a first edition rare book, and it's why "Beat Bop" is considered the "holy grail" of hip-hop vinyl. CONDITION: This is critical especially as older records in good condition are becoming harder to find. Mr Lumley notes that "most of the gold has all been dug up - we're now digging for silver". While there are many factors that go into determining vinyl records value, perhaps none is more important than the need for the record to be an original pressing and not a counterfeit pressing created at a later date to resemble the original issue.

Presley died of a massive drug overdose at his home in Memphis, Tennessee, on either Aug. 6 or Aug. 7, 1977. He was just 42 years old. An autopsy report showed Presley had 14 different drugs in his system, with 10 of those in excessive quantities. 1. The Beatles, "The Beatles" (aka "White Album")Wilson died in 2012 of prostate cancer. He was 71 years old. 9. Tommy Johnson, "Alcohol And Jake Blues"/"Ridin' Horse" An oldie and a goodie. Gen Xers, your cherished wax copy of Nirvana's landmark 1991 album "Nevermind" may have big sentimental value, but unless you've got a first pressing in mint condition (unlikely), it ain't worth much. Glenn Danzig not only created his own bands and wrote his own music. He also did so for other artists, including Johnny Cash and Roy Orbison. 26. Century Symphony Orchestra, "Waltzes by Johann Strauss, Jr." Keyboards – Bhen Lanzarone*, George Bitzer, Greg Mathieson, Lincoln Majorca*, Mike Land (6), Thomas Garvin* RPM: Stands for "revolutions per minute." This is the speed at which a phonograph turntable revolves a record.

Kent, David (1993). Australian Chart Book 1970–1992. St Ives, NSW: Australian Chart Book. p.282. ISBN 0-646-11917-6. The story of Queen was a hot property in Hollywood for the better part of a decade, with "Borat" star Sacha Baron Cohen first attached to play Freddie Mercury in the film version in 2010, although Cohen later dropped out of the project. Newton-John also explained to Forbes in 2018 about why she was hesitant to take her role in Grease. “Actually, I was the only one who was very nervous about making the movie. My musical career was doing well at the time and I had made a movie a few years before, a science-fiction musical called Toomorrow,” she said. “It had all the bells and whistles, it was produced by Don Kirshner, the guy who put The Monkees together, and Harry Saltzman, who co-produced the James Bond movies, and we were going to be a group doing all these musical movies.” Common” is also relative; records that sold well in the 1950s and 1960s still sold in substantially smaller quantities than those sold in the 1970s and 1980s. In the 1950s, it was rare for even a popular album to sell much more than a million copies. By the 1980s, albums selling more than 5 million copies were relatively common. Issued in a gatefold sleeve with a ‘window’ cut-out of Alex in prison. Pressed on the swirl Vertigo label. On the other hand, records by artists that are not of interest to collectors will have little value, regardless of age. There are many records in the easy listening genre from the 1950s, such as those by Ray Conniff or Percy Faith, that are now some 60 years old, but they still sell for only a couple of dollars in most used records stores, provided they bother to offer them for sale at all. While scarcity can be a major factor in a vinyl record’s value, intentional scarcity can affect it even more. While limited edition pressings of albums are a relatively new thing, they are now quite common, with record companies intentionally limiting releases to a few hundred or a few thousand copies. As with acetates, test pressings are usually used for evaluation purposes by record company personnel, though they are occasionally sent out as promotional items. As they are rather unusual and limited in production to just a handful of copies, test pressings are highly regarded and sought out by collectors. Sometimes, test pressings may contain different versions of one or more songs from the commercially released albums. This can also add to their value. AUTOGRAPHS: Collectors will pay extra for albums signed by the singer or band but a certificate of authenticity is usually needed. These rare vinyl records are worth millions of dollars. Most Valuable Vinyl Records Worth Money Veteran DJ Ray Cordeiro with a vinyl record at his home in Hong Kong. Named the world's "most durable DJ" by the Guinness Book of World Records, Cordeiro hung up his headphones for good in 2021, at age 96, after seven decades of entertaining listeners with oldies and classics from the 1960s and 1970s, like the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra, and Tony Bennett.

It was known the Fab Four themselves received the first four copies of the album. But it had always been assumed John Lennon nabbed the very first pressing, when in fact it was Starr who had copy No. 1, stored in a bank vault for 35 years. Prior, he had the album in his home and actually played it. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Starr said, "Whoever gets it, it will have my fingerprints on it." Sometimes an artist will release records on a small label and then move to a larger one. In these cases, their earlier releases tend to be more collectible than their later ones. The country group Alabama released a couple of albums on the small LSI label under the name “Wild Country” before changing their name and moving to the large RCA label. As the records by the group issued by RCA sold quite well, they tend to sell for modest prices. The two albums on LSI, on the other hand, are quite rare and sell for several hundred dollars or more when they’re offered for sale. Depeche Mode's true legacy as an electronic band can be seen in the groups it influenced. The Killers, Muse, Arcade Fire, Nine Inch Nails, Coldplay, No Doubt and Linkin Park are among the groups who have cited Depeche Mode as one of their main influences. 27. Misfits, "Legacy of Brutality"

Keyboards: Louis St. Louis, Greg Mathieson, Michael Lang, Lincoln Mayorga, Thomas Garvin, Ben Lanzarone, George Bitzer What goes around comes around, and we don’t just mean records on a turntable. Audiophiles swear by the sound quality of vinyl over CDs, MP3s, and other files, and now younger generations are starting to see the light. Vinyl sales continue to increase each year, which means that more and more young people are borrowing albums from their parents or buying their own, while those who grew up with them are perhaps dusting off their cherished collections. Classical music and opera — very niche, and there are some sought-after records, but usually these records aren't worth much. End of Year Charts – Top 100 Albums 1998".
