About this deal

The Mesh Company Rodent Mesh is designed to prevent rats, mice and squirrels from entering structures and buildings. The complex control process of rodent proofing is an important step in making your building clear of rats, mice or squirrels. Rodent infestations can lead to serious consequences, spread disease and lead to a deterioration in hygiene. Rats are capable of chewing through many materials, including some types of metal mesh. However, galvanised metal mesh can be a more difficult material for rats to chew through than other materials such as plastic or wood. Standard insect mesh (aka fly mesh or flymesh) has a hole size of 1.36 mm x 1.36 mm. This is small enough to stop the vast majority of unwanted insects, including flies, mosquitoes, wasps and bees. Insect mesh is available to buy in our online shop insect mesh category. Soffit Vent Mesh We recommend that you control any established infestation before undertaking proofing works; otherwise, it may hinder any present control treatment as well as potently forcing rodents from finding or creating new access points. However, we do appreciate that in some circumstances, proofing rodents is the only approach if other control measures have had little success, especially when controlling mice within city centres. Cost: As mentioned above, galvanised steel is typically less expensive than stainless steel. This can make it a more cost-effective option for those who need to cover a large area with rat mesh.

Our Stainless steel wire mesh contains at least 16% chromium which makes it extremely resistant to corrosion. We offer a huge range of different specifications, available in both AISI304 and AISI316 grade stainless steel. Grade Galvanised rat mesh has a wire diameter of a little over 0.6mm and an opening size of 6mm (1/4 inch) to prevent rodents from passing through. The mesh is delivered by the roll and can be cut to size to fit specific areas or applications. Rats are known to be skilled climbers, and they may be able to climb wire mesh under certain circumstances. However, the ability of rats to climb wire mesh will depend on several factors, including the size of the mesh, the strength of the wire, and the texture and shape of the surface the mesh is attached to.Please note that delivery dates are not guaranteed. There is always a risk that consignments may be delayed by couriers. Aluminium: Aluminium mesh is lightweight and easy to handle, making it a good choice for DIY projects. It is also resistant to corrosion and can withstand exposure to the elements. However, it may not be as strong as other materials and may be more prone to warping or bending over time.

Staples: Staples can be used to secure rat mesh to wooden surfaces such as framing or sheathing. Use a staple gun to attach the mesh to the surface, making sure to space the staples no more than 6 inches apart to ensure the mesh is secure. The zinc coating on galvanised metal can make it harder for rats to grip and chew through the wire as it created an extra layer of protection for the mesh. In addition, the small openings in the mesh can make it difficult for rats to get a good grip with their teeth. These factors can make galvanised metal mesh a good choice for rodent control in many applications. Rats are known to be persistent and persistent chewers, and they can potentially chew through wire mesh if the mesh is not made of a durable material or if it is not installed properly. However, there are certain types of wire mesh, such as stainless steel wire mesh, that are designed to be resistant to chewing and gnawing.Prepare the area: Clear the area of any debris or obstructions, and make sure the surface is clean and dry. If there are any gaps or holes in the soffit or roof, patch them up before installing the mesh. Before undertaking any rodent proofing works, we recommend that you survey the property; this will help highlight any possible entrance points, including ones you are unaware of. Pay particular attention to wall junctions, pipework and vents as a general rule; house mice will get through a hole the size of a small pencil and brown rats a 10p coin. Corrosion Resistance – Good. It is produced from mild steel that has been zinc-dipped to give it a galvanised finish that protects it from the elements Copper: Copper mesh is another option for rodent control. It is non-corrosive and highly malleable, making it a good choice for irregularly shaped areas. However, it is more expensive than other materials and may be less effective at preventing rodent entry.

Wide range of products: We are known for offering a wide range of products, including mesh, fencing, netting, and other related products. Furthermore, The Mesh Company provides custom sizing, bespoke cutting, and slitting services in addition to its extensive selection of pre-cut metal screens. Carry out research into the area in question. These points of ingress can be on higher levels as much as they’re likely to be on the ground floor. Always try to eliminate previous infestations before using a rodent deterrent. Otherwise existing problems will simply be moved to a different point of the location in question.Galvanised steeland stainless steel are both commonly used materials for rat mesh. Here are some of the differences between the two:
