Those cheap sets cost almost as much as this, were much harder to set up and use, and fell apart in no time. If you're able to find another passenger car to add to the one that comes with this set, you'll have a more realistic set of two passenger cars with two locomotives. My son absolutely loves this train set and plays with it non-stop. It needs 9 AAA batteries. You'll definitely need rechargables, so expect to have to shell out a bit more.
