About this deal

I didn’t expect to like this. Fruity floral? I think I have not one perfume from the 90’s. Either before or after, but not that. I love spices and plenty of other things, but fruits so often smell teenybopper on me. If it’s a small dose of fruit hidden under some other things, maybe ok. When I first tried Kismet I fell in love the same moment. I was in a store, searching for musky fragrances (it was (still is) my mission, to find the perfect musk- my favourite note. haven't found one yet) Frankly, I am really disappointed not to have found any value for money in this buy, because this perfume is absolutely overhyped. But what I don't love is the price. No way under heaven given among men am I spending that kind of money on a fragrance. The difference is subtle, they are so close with Moustache having only slightly better performance and quality that it isn't even a factor in my opinion.

Have to admit i bought this fragrance blindly after hearing of YSL Tuxedo on a Demi Rawling video where she called it the best men's fragrance ever. Her raving about it seems really genuine (In time i learned to take Youtuber's opinions with more then a grain of salt). Rochas Moustache was unavailable for a while in my country and frankly i prefered this one's presentation. Both this and Moustache are clones of Tuxedo. But like I said in the beginning, there is absolutely nothing bad about it, this good girl stayed good with her green fruits and soap. The opening is a green, sweet and earthy mess. Not very pleasant yet you can tell that it will evolve in something very interesting. It's like grass, earth, nutmeg sweetness and patchouli. Smells like rotting vegetation with a sweet hint. Despite the rose note featuring prominently in Kismet's official scent pyramid, I honestly wouldn't classify this fragrance as a rose scent. The rose accord is very subtle and smells more like dried potpourri, which mind you works beautifully alongside the opoponax, patchouli and labdanum notes. So I've found a new indisputable love - I mean to get a bigger amount of this as soon as I can, and I definitely see a full bottle of Kismet somewhere in my future. This is my second sample from Lubin, and the second one that's a big hit with me; I have to dive deeper into this house as soon as possible! Frankly I can understand the appeal with this brand and I can respect anyone who loves it, but unfortunately for me the tuberose made this perfume an unforgivable experience. This is a dupe of Moustache EDP Rochas and I would say it's about 90-95% similar although it might get more similar with an aged bottle. In Kismet for Men, vanilla-vetiver-patchouli does a good job of giving an impression of the benzoin in Moustache EDP Rochas. The opening fresh & warm spicy notes last longer in Kismet for Men, but the benzoin in Moustache EDP is more swoon-worthy for those who don't go nose-blind to it. Overall, this is a pretty good dupe, but not better than the OG Moustache EDP imho, since the benzoin is my favourite part. Moustache EDP has better performance, but it seems that many people go nose-blind to both of these.

Contrary to others, I have not observed any change due to masceration. Smells and performs the same as when I opened it. To be perfectly honest, I generally disregard claims about masceration, since there's no way to reliably know how long it's been since a particular batch was made when you're buying it. In addition, I expect a quality fragrance to perform out of the box - I'm not in the market for scent bonds that need to mature (and if it needs to mature, the manufacturer should mature it and sell us the finished product). To me, It's more freshie than gourmand...wasn't counting on that, but hey...it still smells fabulous!

I would not splurge 200 € on for a 50 ml bottle of something I only enjoy for the first few minutes. This is a totally respectable dupe of Tuxedo that gets the basic notes right, but in slightly different balance, and with a reliance on aromachemicals instead of naturals. I think it's a tremendous value, certainly when compared to Tuxedo. I think that "The Tux" gets closer to the proportions of the YSL original, but I prefer Kismet to The Tux: I just think that this is the better smelling combo when it's all aromachemicals.

EDIT: Actually, layering this with "Ameer al Oud intense" is perfect! Boosts it's projection, longevity and sillage with a nice spicy vanilla woody base. Kismet is a great smelling fragrance, but made for more formal/intimate situations on it's own. First spritz... And I was hit with an overwhelming scent of hairspray. Whuhhh. I was so confused. Can't figure out what's causing it. Delivery Delays: Soghaat is not accountable for delays due to Customs inspections or other factors beyond our control.
