About this deal

Label.m Matte Paste is pretty much what it sounds like, it is a hair styling product with a pasty texture and feel, that mostly delivers a matte finish. It is quite firm to the touch, and once emulsified applies quite easily to the hair.

Doing a wash of colour over a thin layer of beads seems just as effective as mixing a transparent colour in. Both label.m Matt Paste and label.m Deconstructor produce a very similar texture and low-shine finish. However, you can expect a slightly stronger hold from the Deconstructor. To use Label. M Matt Paste 120ml, start by applying a small amount to dry hair and working it through evenly from roots to tips using your fingers or a comb. For added volume and texture, apply the paste to damp hair before blow-drying.I’d say the finish was low shine or natural-finish and gradually dulled as the day progressed which was absolutely fine. A lot of the hold will be generated from the roots, so don’t make the common mistake of simply applying the paste to the tips. You could achieve some mounds, if not peaks, and build up depth. The shrinkage wasn’t noticeable, due to the inclusion of plastic crystals, that were already solid. This is becasue the polymer acts mainly as a “glue”, rather than as the body of the gel.

The 7 GAC mediums are the most fluid of all the mediums and change the hardness, film flexibility and adhesion of acrylic paint. Reduces crazing and is useful for pouring. Dries with good film flexibility but a slight haze on the surface. Can be used to make an acrylic adhere better to chalky surfaces. GAC 900 Plus, it’s not noticeable once it’s applied to the hair and shouldn’t conflict with any actual cologne you may choose to wear. It mixed easily with fluid acrylic, I chose a transparent Quinacridone Magenta, that created a gorgeous glaze, or rather lens, over an earlier painted mark.

It was very difficult to make it smooth and show up tool marks very distinctly. It would be very useful if you wanted to create distinct levels within a piece.

If you were planning on applying some sea salt spray or other texturizing pre-styler, it’s a good idea to do it before blow-drying to really maximize the effect. 2. Break Down A Dime-Sized Amount It may be a little weaker than what you’d expect from a hair paste and definitely weaker than a hair clay. The hardest and least flexible of all Golden products, it increases film hardness and needs to be used in pure form on rigid surfaces. It also needs to dry at a minimum of 21 degrees. It improves adhesion to non-porous surfaces. Dries to a high gloss with an excellent transparency. Useful for hard edge techniques as it has less pull than other acrylic compositions. GAC 400However, Claymation has a much stronger clay component (as the name would suggest) and so does feel heavier and grittier to apply. It really doesn’t take long to break down between the palms which is nice. After 10 seconds of rubbing you shouldn’t feel any bits or clumps – all you’ll be left with is a gentle shine on the palms. I did find that hold lasted for most of the working day but started to flop forward toward the 4hr mark with some strays and flyaways rearing their heads as well. However, they do feel quite different in consistency. American Crew Fiber does really have a “fiber-like” and resinous feel to it.

Overall, you’ll find it easier to build texture and volume with label.m Matt Paste. However, you will have to tolerate a weaker hold than what you’d get with American Crew Fiber. 3. Label M Matt Paste Vs Label M Deconstructor Although it’s great for layered and messy hairstyles, or spikes and quiffs, you can still use it for more defined (but still relaxed) styles as well. When my hair is short, Label.m Matte Paste helps to maintain the shape I created in my hair from blow drying throughout the day. The lightweight hold allows for movement and the structure is enough to keep reworking the style and for maintaining volume. That said, the lightweight hold is also the reason the product doesn’t work in longer hair styles, because it can’t support the extra weight and stop the long hair from falling apart. Dries to a hard, stiff film, making it useful for priming canvases if stiffness is required. It can be used as a rabbit skin glue alternative. GAC 500Clear Tar Gel, Leveling Gel and Glazing Liquid affect paint’s viscosity, flow and drying time, but all are levelling, smooth and transparent. Golden additives such as retarder, open thinner and wetting agent affect how the paint dries, decreasing surface tension, maintaining or slowing drying times. Gels tend to be transparent and increase body, those gels with aggregates have bits in them to change the texture and to produce unique textural effects. The comb is your ally in this battle for control, and I think it wise never to be too far from one! It isn’t eye-catching by any means but goes well with the overall minimalist and fashion-focused aesthetic.
