About this deal

As of 2020, the Leslie G is also discontinued, Hammond’s own entry in the rotary-speaker emulation market for guitarists. The pedal is a smaller version of its Digital Leslie Pedal. That unit features emulations of the 122, 147, and 18 model cabinets, as well as the Hammond PR-40 tone cabinet, a stationary-speaker cabinet that was a standard issue with Hammond organs in the 1950s and 1960s. (The addition isn’t surprising when considering that Leslie is now marketed under Hammond.) The Leslie G loses the PR-40 emulation, which is no great loss, and instead lets you store a preset or your own creation. The Soul Shiver features three distinct modulation effects, each designed to suit a variety of playing styles. You can easily choose between chorus, vibrato, or rotary effects using the mode switch. In chorus mode, the pedal produces warm and creamy effects that are perfect for achieving psychedelic, wavy sounds. Its vibrato, on the other hand, delivers classic '60s-style fluctuating tones that range from subtle to dramatic. The rotary effect simulates the sonics of high-quality speaker cabinets, all in a compact unit. For me this often goes hand-in-hand with Filter type pedals - and there is some degree of overlap, while there are also distinct pedals in each category. Sometimes the separation is rather arbitrary, while I stand by my selections here. The one Auto-Wah pedal I own in this category is the Custom Shop CryBaby Q-Zone Fixed Wah - and I've still to get ANO from the Boss AW-3 Dynamic Wah, Mad Professor Snow White AutoWah - or possibly even the brand new Tone City Funny Boy Auto Wah.

A “Type” switch delivers the usual “Vibrato” and “Chorus” voices, while the “Tone” switch offers three different EQ settings Original, Bright, and Custom, with the latter’s setting being tweaked via a trim pot on the side of the case. The Dunlop Rotovibe is a sturdy, original take executed in a no-frills fashion, although the treadle-based approach controlling the effect’s intensity makes it stand apart from the competition. Neo Instruments was among the pioneers in this field, blowing everyone away with the Ventilator, a desktop-style pedal that emulates the Leslie 122, one of the most famous cabinets in the company’s historic lineup. While the Ventilator’s feature set is no richer than what’s offered on some pedals in the Leslie Emulator category, the quality of its emulation is truly exceptional, with a depth of realism that few can match. For guitarists, Neo created the Ventilator II, which offers the same features in a smaller format, along with expression pedal control.A simple dual function Uni-Vibe/Rotary emulation in a mini case. In Rotary mode it delivers shimmering Leslie-like tones.

The pedal comes with three control knobs, including Depth, Rate, and Lag control knobs. Plus, there are the selectable waveform and tap tempo division switches. Also, there is the D-C-V knob which allows you to blend the dry and wet sound to give you a Dry, Chorus, or Vibrato tone. For a little more control, there is the Danelectro Big Spender, a popular entry in the company’s now discontinued Billionaire series, a Leslie simulator that features Chorale and Tremolo modes with a ramp control. However, the Gear4music extended warranty scheme provides an enhanced service, and is designed to offer a higher level of protection than many 'free' warranties offered by some retailers and manufacturers. Other candidates include the fantastic Stereo Swindler Effects Red Mountain, Walrus Audio Monument and Flower Pedals Dandelion. Also EarthQuaker Devices Night Wire, Korora Audio Merlo, Subdecay Vagabond, Source Audio Vertigo, and of course Supro's well respected Harmonic Tremolo. Origin Effects MAGMA57 Amp Vibrato & Drive provides some amazing overdrive tones along with an impressive true pitch-modulating vibrato effect. You have Output, Tone, Drive, Intensity, and Speed control knobs to craft your tone along with a 3-way vibrato speed switch and 3 EQ presets with post-drive EQ.

A digital circuit that carefully recreates all the nuances of the original optical Uni-Vibe circuit, with the added bonus of a stereo output, Midi compatibility, and an extra blended “Chorus/Vibrato” mode that’s 30% wet and 70% dry for a subtler effect. A 3-way BIAS toggle with Low, Mid and High settings modifies the shape and timing of the warble as well as frequency emphasis.
