About this deal

If there's a sweetspot in the Forza product line, it would have to be the 300's, because they perfectly realize the vision of being as powerful as possible, while also being compact, lightweight, and built tough. The new Nanlite Forza 300 II and 300B II definitely have the same enticing characteristics as the first generation, while adding new levels of versatility and power to the mix. The result are lights that can be your go-to instruments for any shoot, whether the set is in your home, on a professional sound stage, or out in the wilderness. New adjustable cooling system with 4 operation modes available: SMART, FULLSPEED, LOW SPEED, and OFF So as a comparison, how does this output compare to the Aputure LS 300x and Nanlite’s own FS-300B when using their included reflectors? Well, above you can see. All the lights draw 350W, but it was interesting to see that the much cheaper FS-300B had the most output. The Forza 300B II was the most CCT accurate of any of the lights and it still managed to have a lot more output than the Aputure LS 300x How does it perform at various CCT settings?

The Forza 300B from Nanlite is a Bicolour monolight style LED engineered to give maximum output out of a minimal footprint. With a light head weighing only 5.07 lbs, the Forza 300B employs a COB LED module and a precision-engineered reflector to emit 37440 Lux at 1 meter with the colour temperature set to 5600K. All while maintaining a high average CRI/TLCI of 96/ 98, ensuring accurate colour rendition. SILENT RUNNING: Thanks to the Forza 200's quiet, 20db fan and fanless power adapter, it is at home even in the most sound-sensitive situations. These results show me that the light’s output varies by just 23.7% across the CCT range. The consistency of the output across the CCT range isn’t great, but there is a Constant Output mode you can use if you want similar output across all CCT settings. Please note that you won’t get nearly as much output in this mode. As a test, I measured the light in the Constant Output mode at both 2700K and 5600K and I found that there was only a 5% difference in output. Now, the output for the light when used at 5600K in the Max. Output mode was 31,300 lx, while in the Constant Output mode it was just 22,600 lx. CCT consistency & linear output when dimming the light The FL-20G's material design was specifically created to handle the heat output of the Forza 500 running at full brightness without any adverse effects. This makes it capable of managing the Forza 300's full output as well.

I tested the Nanlite Forza 300B II at a variety of CCT settings with a Sekonic C-800 Spectrometerto find out how much output the light had and how accurate the CCT reproduction was. All readings are taken at a distance of 1m (3.28ft) in a controlled environment. The readings were also taken directly from the lighting source. In the case of using the light with the Reflector, they were taken from the end of that attachment, and not from the COB. Above you can see the same test at 3200K. The Forza 300B II is still a pretty close match to the Nanlite Forza 720B. Very few lights from different manufacturers are ever going to be an exact match, but ideally, in a lot of scenarios, you want to use lights that match as closely as possible. This point-source light was made by a company that's been solely focused on LED lights for video production and photography for over 30 years. All of this experience is evident in the Forza 300B II.

BOWENS STYLE LIGHT MODIFIER MOUNT: By utilizing the near-universal Bowens style light modifier mount and incorporating an umbrella holder into the yolk, the Forza 200 is compatible with a massive selection of light modifiers. Including, but not limited to, Nanlite's line of fresnels, softboxes, and umbrellas. Above is an example of the light being punched directly into the ceiling. being punched into the ceiling. As far as how linear the output is when you start dimming the light, at 50% output it had 47.92% less output than when used at 100%. At 25% it had 72.5% less output than when used at 100%. At 10% output, it had 88.2% less output than when used at 100%. This shows me that the light’s dimming curve is fairly linear. Again, as a comparison, the much more affordable FS-300B had better results in this category, and in fact, those results were the best I had ever seen from a light for this test. Color Rendering 5600K (Reflector) Above you can see the scores for when the light was used at 3200K. It recorded an average CRI (R1-R8) of 96.1 and an extended CRI (R1-R15) of 95.66. For replicating accurate skin tones it recorded 94.7 for R9 (red), 95.1 for R13 (closest to caucasian skin tones), and 96.2 for R15 (closest to Asian skin tones). These were decent results, and a little bit better than when the light is used at 5600K. The control units for the Forza 300 II series are 37% smaller and feature integrated power supplies — side-mounted V-Mount battery plates — that are compatible with different sized and shaped batteries. The units are also fanless and all cables attach to the top. The control units also can operate on either one or two batteries.

Build Quality

Different lights can also look different depending on what camera you happen to be using. Output & Color Temperature Accuracy

As it utilizes a Bowens mount you can use a wide array of affordable lighting modifiers. Nanlite also makes quite a few of its own accessories for the light. Conclusion Forza 300B II provides an impressive amount of versatile bi-color output from a head that weighs only 6.3 lbs (2.9 kg) and is just 12.9 x 8.9 x 4.8" in size. The Nanlite Forza 300 II LED Spotlight is as remarkably compact and lightweight yet delivers 69400 Lux (6447.4 fc) at 1 meter with the included reflector. It was built for professional production with durable construction, control options for Bluetooth, 2.4G, and DMX/RDM, a glass-protected COB, a fully redesigned yoke, and a Control Unit that can run on AC or side-mounted V-Mount batteries (sold separately). It has a highly accurate CRI rating of 96 and a TLCI of 97, and lets you easily adjust the green-to-magenta shift by +/- 80, which is made possible by its W(RG) LED source.

The included head cables that come with Forza 500 II and 500B II are 9.8 feet (3 m), and the power cables are 19.8 feet (6 m). If you need even more length to mount the 500 II’s up high, you can get the24.7-foot (7.5 m) The build quality of the Nanlite FORZA 300B II is pretty good and in line with what you would expect from a light at this price. The housing is reasonably robust and everything is solidly made. The included reflector is similar to what you would find on a lot of Bowens mount spotlights. Mounting
