About this deal

The light does shut off with low voltage protection, and the stepdowns seem to approximate what Olight’s manual claims. Charging Turning this light on was a bit of a struggle. Instead of a push switch it has a dial + push switch. I had to read the manual to understand how to turn it on… men don’t read manuals you know. In Marauder mini, the Spot beam has been shaped in a circular pattern instead of a square compared to theMarauder 2.

Here are a number of runtime tests. I tested the highest 3 modes for flood and throw but didn’t test any of the color modes for runtime. Powered by a customized 24Wh 32650 rechargeable lithium battery, it offers an extended runtime. The tail cap of the Marauder Mini can be removed, unlike the Marauder 2. That means thecell can be replaced, so it can be used again and again. New from Olight is a Mini version of the Marauder Mini flashlight! It offers the same great rotary interface along with red, green, and blue! Olight must have considered several things during their research. Throw and Flood. The Marauder 2 can do both, but not at the same time. You either get extreme brightness with a very wide beam, or you get throw with a very narrow, but rectangular beam. If you look at the 3 graphs, you see that L5 is actually doing the nices output from 25 minutes onward. It produces about 3500 lumens just short of 3.5 hours.

Measurements were taken indoors at 5 meters with a professional Hagner E4-X Lux Meter. The Olight Marauder 2 was set to Throw mode (spot light). Mode Lamp Type: 1 x Central spot CW LED / 6 x flood CW LEDs / 1 x red LED / 1 x green LED / 1 x blue LED This charger is a “charge base” style item, which connects to USB power on one end and magnetically to the (or “a”) flashlight. Olight has a ton of lights using this same connection, so if you’re already in, this won’t be a problem. Uniformly Distributed RGB Color LEDs: Three RGB LEDs are uniformly distributed around the lens, greatly increasing its usefulness on any outdoor adventure.

Some people complained about the rectangular beam, and it’s probably because they aren’t used to it. I think our perception of a beam is usually round. It’s not like the imperfect beam of most zoomable/focusable flashlights. The LED for throw is in the center behind a convex shaped lens. The outer ring of LEDs are in the outer ring behind TIR optics. In the flood setting, the beam is really wide and smooth. I don’t really know what kind of LEDs they are. Unlike the Marauder 2 (or “M2”), this little loop does not seem to flip out and in the photo above is as exposed as it gets. A red indicator LED will show when the light is running out of battery. Also, the output will decrease when the battery is running low. Three RGB color LEDs are uniformly distributed around the converging lens, making it suitable for use on any occasion. On the other aspects, both lights are almost identical. The interface is the same of both lights. With a super easy and effective rotary knob, battery and output indicator, switch to flip between flood and throw beam, silicone wrapped around the body to make the lights carry more comfortably in the cold, the heat, and avoid slipping when the light is wet or you are wearing gloves. Various looks for various people

Here is the list with most of the high-power flashlights we reviewed in this category (Category: high-power soupcan sized flashlights). Flashlight (and Link) Unlike the Marauder 2, the Marauder Mini uses the signature magnetic charging system and also has a removable battery. The customised 6500 mAh 32650 lithium-ion battery is recharged inside the torch using the included MCC3 magnetic charging cable. Simply connect the magnet to the base of the torch and plug the USB end into a suitable USB adaptor (5 V 2 A recommended for fastest charging). The indicator light on the magnet will go red while charging is in progress and turn green once charging is complete after approximately 5 hours if the power supply is sufficient enough to support the 2 A output, otherwise the cable will output at a lower rate or 1 A or 1.5 A depending on the power supply. Measurement disclaimer: Testing flashlights is my hobby. I use hobbyist-level equipment for testing, including some I made myself. Try not to get buried in the details of manufacturer specifications versus measurements recorded here; A certain amount of difference (say, 10 or 15%) is perfectly reasonable. What’s IncludedThe Marauder 2 is 8% longer (so, not longer by that much), 17% wider at the head and at the body (ok, 17% is a bit more), and finally, 61% heavier (ok, this is very noticeable). On the other hand, the Marauder 2 has double the brightness of the Marauder Mini, and 200 meters (or 50%) more throw. But the Marauder Mini has a RGB LEDs, as well as vibration indicator for when you reach minimum and maximum outputs. There are two powerful beam options for this LED array: a spotlight beam of 600 meters max throw or a floodlight beam of 7,000 lumens max output from the 9 LEDs surrounding the central LED.Using a simple toggle switch, you can choose either spot or flood mode, and an intuitive rotary knob lets you choose from seven brightness levels. Sometimes, features are a problem. One of the things I never encountered before is a proximity sensor inside a flashlight. I am usually not very fond of this type of feature, but I actually appreciate it, because it’s a safety feature. It reduces the output when an object is close to the flashlight. This could be a person, but it could also be your bag!

Primarily you’ll be carrying this light by means of the lanyard, which attaches through this “coin slot loop.” Olight includes a nice stretchy holster for the Marauder Mini. It fits in one direction and the light shouldn’t be used while inside. It is compatible with Olight's MCC3 magnetic charging cable. It's convenient for charging. You don't have to worry about battery usage at any time, anywhere. It only takes about 4 hours from empty to full.
