"Heriberto 'Eddie' Seda." truTV. (Oct. 29, 2009) http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/serial_killers/weird/seda/index_1.html Various criminal acts have been inspired by many television shows, movies, books as well as other criminals. A list of a few crimes that have been a result of the copycat effect are: The kids have really been enjoying the beginner and intermediate levels, whilst us adults have been enjoying the harder, more advanced levels (which sometimes the kids want to help with). Cat Crimes is an excellent logic game that tests visual perception, reasoning, deduction, logical thinking and problem solving whilst being lots of fun (sometimes frustrating fun). Playing it with the kids is also an excellent way to encourage and develop communication and language skills. In the mid-1990s, Columbia Pictures released the film Money Train, featuring a scene where one of the characters attempts to set a subway-token booth attendant on fire. Also known as Eddie Seda, this serial killer modeled his crimes on the actions of the Zodiac Killer. Unlike his inspiration, however, Seda was caught after murdering three people and injuring six others during his reign of terror which lasted from March 1990 to October 1993. Seda was born in New York in 1969, and the recluse was obsessed with guns and the Bible. He admired the Zodiac Killer, especially the fact that the infamous individual was never caught. Incidentally, the Scream trilogy is based on a murder spree in Gainesville, Florida in 1990. Over the course of a few days (August 24-27), five students were murdered on the University of Florida campus. All of the slayings were brutal in nature and after a huge manhunt, police arrested a 19-year-old student named Edward Humphrey. He was a schizophrenic who stopped taking his medication and after his arrest, the killings stopped. However, evidence from the crime scenes determined that Humphrey was not the killer, yet he remained in prison for 22 months on a trumped-up assault charge. With 40 challenge cards and 10 cards for each level, as you progress through the crimes, analytical thought becomes more prevalent and having the pieces to move around the game board is very useful in testing out your hypotheses – you can move cats around to see how your answer would pan out. Even though Surette believes that these NYC slashings are probably connected on some level, “the only way to really determine if a crime is a copycat crime is to catch the criminal and ask exactly why they did it.” And even then, the interrogator has to rely on the criminals to tell the truth, which they don’t always do.

When you have a very low base rate, he explains, a big increase percentage-wise can actually mean an extremely small number of cases. An increase of seven slashings to eight slashings from one month to the next, for example, amounts to a 14.2 percent increase. Likewise, a 15 percent increase means that 85 percent of the occurrences are at a routine level. “These percentages can jump around a lot,” Greenberg says, “and it means nothing.”As a family, we just love to sit down and play a variety of different board and tabletop games. They are great fun and an excellent way of spending quality time with each other. We also adapted it slightly so that if one of the kids wanted to play with us, they could be discussing possible solutions and working through the answers, explaining theories and reasoning for possible solutions. It can be quite interesting hearing how different people deduce different things from the same set of clues whilst giving a valid reason as to why they think that would work.

During a five-year period in the late 1960s in the San Francisco area, the self-described Zodiac Killer used a knife and a pistol to take the lives of at least seven strangers. Both kiddos were able to easily play the game alone and they spent several evenings playing it together and separately.
