About this deal

These controls are all reflected in the app, and I’ll bring you a full update once these are all working. Impromptu low-light shooting is no longer a problem with the CRANE M3. Thanks to its pioneering in-built 800 lumen LED fill light, the stabiliser offers an intense natural lighting solution with full stepless dimming control and temperature settings via a control wheel. Additionally available are magnetic light filter accessories for the LED light, in four different colours. At peak power 6W, the M3s lighting reads are as follows: colour temperature levels: 3000-5400K, brightness: warm light 650-750, white light 850-950, CRI (Colour Rendering Index) 90+. How you use the M3 is entirely up to you. It does support everything from smartphones to action cameras, and from compact cameras to full-frame mirrorless cameras (with certain lenses), so you have many options when it comes to your shoot. It also makes the M3 a great all-rounder, smoothing out the jitters on (virtually) any device you throw at it. For smartphones, an adjustable mount is included that can accommodate phones up to the size of an iPhone 13 Pro Max. That's a big phone. Supports PD Fast Charge protocol. Supports a maximum of 12W wired fast charge. The data is gathered from internal experiments of ZHIYUN laboratories. Under different scenarios, data is different to some extent.

Size-wise, the M3 is considerably smaller than other gimbals, making it a great option for many videographers who find the likes of the Crane 2s and even the WeeBill 2 still too heavy to use for any amount of time. While this concept might seem alien to many of us, if you’re starting, this is a gimbal that will grow with you by using your phone to a mirrorless system. Modelling light Once the camera is in place, the usual adjustments can be made to the axis balances for the X, Y and Z. Maybe because of the small size; these adjustments are really easy. I found balancing the M3 a relatively simple process. Balancing the phone (iPhone 11 Pro) or action camera ( Akaso Brave 8) proved just how straightforward the process was. Stabilising a mirrorless camera While it will cope perfectly with the small, lightweight form of your mobile phone or action camera, it will also work with your mirrorless camera as long as it’s not too heavy. The Crane-M3 will allow you to create super-smooth footage. I used the gimbal with the Nikon Z fc, an Olympus E-M10 Mark IV and an iPhone 11 Pro Max, and had no issues whatsoever. It worked flawlessly and the results were fantastic. Zhiyun says that the Crane-M3 can handle full-frame cameras too, however, your mileage may vary.Using the Crane M3 with a mirrorless camera was the port of call, and after a few lens experiments, I found that the 35mm f/1.4 was the way to go when it camera to stabilisation. Anything larger pushed the limits of the motors, which for a gimbal of this size was not surprising. There are instant limitations to the Crane M3; it is, after all, designed to carry action cameras, mobile phones and small mirrorless systems rather than a full-scale filming kit. Zhiyun keeps surging forward, releasing new gimbals and updating existing models at a dizzying pace, although to be fair the compact and DSLR camera market is equally fast-moving. Rather than pushing the limits of a gimbal, it makes more sense as a user to allow the setup more headroom so the motors can operate comfortably - you'll get better video footage that way, courtesy of greater overall stability. One of the biggest issues with using a gimbal is being able to get a decent light source onto your subject, especially if it’s you presenting to camera. ZHIYUN has brought the design of the built infill lamp from the ZHIYUN CRANE-M3 Used as a standard gimbal stabiliser, the Crane M3 does an amazing job. The size makes it extremely agile, and the fact that it’s so light makes it a pleasure to use. Mobile phone and action camera stabilisation

The expansion base for the gimbal (included with the Pro Kit option) has a receiver built-in, which can be paired with the transmitter module for wireless control of cameras via Bluetooth where supported, e.g. to trigger your camera's shutter button. Using the Akaso Brave 8 and iPhone 11 Pro showed just how versatile the gimbal is and the additional control over the two cameras compared with the in-camera stabilisation is huge. On-the-hoof, live interviews couldn’t get easier with the CRANE M3’s TransMount Expansion Base to which professional microphones can be directly connected. The base bypasses connecting the microphone via the camera, thus removing the need for: additional cables, extra weight on the camera, and further adjustments to the gimbal. The M3 comes with a TransMount Shotgun Microphone as standard, however, the 6.5mm connecting audio port can also support a range of wired professional microphones for clear audio performance with cardioid/hypercardioid patterns.Few things in life frustrate me more than trying to balance a gimbal. However, after I psyched myself up to balance my camera on the Zhiyun Crane-M3 I found that this is one of the easiest gimbals to balance. Using a small mirrorless phone or action camera on the same gimbal is a great feature and far more useful than you would initially think. Unlike bigger gimbal baseplates, the V-shape baseplate is tiny and may be left in place on the camera without obstructing the view. Charging and Camera power boost

If the size of the gimbal handle was kept the same, but the space between the sliding axis was slightly bigger, we would rate the gimbal a lot higher. The fact we couldn't get it to balance as instructed without the rubber viewfinder hitting the gimbal put it down a peg or two. In this post we are going to talk about Zhiyun Crane M3 vs Zhiyun Crane M2S and which you should be your next travel partner.I paired the Crane M3 with the Sony ZV-E10 and an iPhone 13 for testing. The stabilizer is the perfect size for smaller swappable lens cameras like the ZV-E10 and a good fit for upmarket compacts like the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III. Zhiyun lists some full-frame models in the camera compatibility list, but they balance only if you attach lightweight prime lenses. Zhiyun does not publish a maximum payload for the gimbal, but most of the compatible kits it lists come in under two pounds. The Crane M3 is a perfect match for small ILCs like the Sony ZV-E10

Through the USB-C connector, the new Crane-M2S supports USB PD rapid charging up to 12W. This implies that a full charge of the Crane-M2S may be completed in about 100 minutes, providing up to 10 hours of operational time on a single charge. The Zhiyun Crane-M2S effectively offers a sweet spot between its larger and pricier Crane-M3 gimbal, and the more stripped-down Crane-M2. Despite weighing only 549g (that's less than half the weight of the 1.2kg DJI RSC 2), the stabilizer can hold full-frame cameras like the Sony A7S III.PD The Crane M3 is surprisingly powerful in use, and despite the compact nature of the axis arms and closeness to the camera, the LCD screen was clear and visible.
