Press the EXP button on the panel to access pedal function settings. Select EXP1, then set the functions controlled by EXP in On and Off states according to the menu contents. The user can set any EXP as a Volume pedal. The position of this volume pedal is at the end of the effect chain, controlling the total output volume, but before the OUTPUT, XLR, and Headphone output potentiometers. You can set the volume control range, with the default being 0 for the MIN and 100 for the MAX. The EXP1 has On/Off states (light on/off on the panel), and the user can define the functions and parameters to be controlled in these two states. One of the things that impressed me upon unboxing the Arena 2000 was the general robustness of its construction Before connecting the Arena2000, make sure that the volume knobs of OUTPUT, XLR, and PHONE are turned to the minimum. Clean sounds were generally less convincing but still respectable enough considering the investment, and the variety of everything available from the effects and settings variables won’t leave you hanging. This product has a headphone output impedance of 10 ohms. Please select headphones with an appropriate impedance for use. Impedance that is too high may result in low headphone volume. Please be aware.

I tested the Arena 2000 with a Gibson 1959 Les Paul reissue and a Fender 1954 Telecaster reissue using headphones, both directly from the unit and via a Universal Audio Apollo Twin Duo recording interface, and with studio monitors.

The sound quality of the effects, as well as the amp and cab models, are amazing with this pedal. Plus, it features two LCD screens making the navigation and tonal adjustments process music easier. You can build your tones from scratch with the EZ Tone feature and a graphical tone grid. Press the EXP button and enter the “EXP CALIBRATION”, then determine the MIN and MAX positions as prompted on the screen. It must be calibrated before using the external EXP pedal.
