This book was quite similar in feel to Millions. It seemed obvious to me that he is not himself Welsh, by the idiolect that he gave the protaganist (Dylan). He seemed to speak like an English boy! But that was a tiny issue in an otherwise wonderful tale. When a new Prime Minister is elected on Ted’s birthday, strange things begin to happen. At first, Ted thinks it’s a happy coincidence that some of his ideas become government policy. However, as his more obscure thoughts are adopted by the Prime Minister, he wonders if he is genuinely influencing parliamentary decisions. If you just sit down and think of the story you just have the story. But I think giving yourself some time not to think about it at all, just going shopping for lots of nice stuff to put in your book, that's probably the best way to work. But if you just spend a lot of time saying I love this, I love this picture, I love that anecdote, I love this boy, I love this idea, I love all these different things and put them in a notebook then the story comes that will encompass them all. Frank Cottrell Boyce: I didn't go to the National Gallery as a child, because I don't live in London and I think I had only been once on a school trip, or something like that, before I thought of this story. I love a story where you can't put a finger on who the best character is. Is it the two old ladies who live halfway up the mountain? One is blind and the other doesn't know how to drive. So the blind one drives and the other one steers. Or is it Dylan's Dad who can fix anything - even people? Nice Tom (formerly Daft Tom) who is obsessed with the Ninja Turtles? Dylan's little sister Minnie who loves bandits and reading about the guy who stole the Mona Lisa? I can't decide. I loved them all.Konflik tiba di saat keluarga anak ini mengalami kesulitan ekonomi. Muncullah ide yang dilontarkan oleh adiknya yang menurutnya jenius, untuk mencuri lukisan-lukisan tersebut. Criminal instincts run in his family—his sister is a mastermind-in-training, and the tax men are after his father for questioning.
