About this deal

Not a terrible book, but nothing captivating either. It's a decent, well-written summer mystery if you're looking for something to pass the time. This is a good example on why you shouldn’t decide to read a book based on the title alone. I thought this would be fun and mysterious, but it was incredibly slow paced and a bit of a chore to get through. Friends' is reputedly an assault on the music industry and all in it - the macheavelian existence of the likes of Stelfox, where absolutely nothing is off limits and there is a reasonably good book here fighting to get out of this morass - but compared to Niven's subsequent and superior novel 'The Amateurs', 'Friends' does not stand up. There's creatures surfacing from the depths, mysterious occurrences, flared tempers, entirely too much booze and a storm of epic proportions. Will any of them get off the island alive?

Mad, gleeful nastiness | Fiction | The Guardian

The thing that makes it so disturbing is that when Steven Stelfox isn’t running around being a terrible, terrible person to literally everyone (himself included), he occasionally says things that make some sense—particularly about the music industry—and you find yourself begrudgingly agreeing with him. This feels terrible, because agreeing with this character on even the most trivial of matters, feels like complicity in all of the awful stuff he gets up to. The protagonist’s venomous rants have the power to amuse, but ultimately they become infantile and tedious.

Bronwyn seems like domestic, protective, loyal mother, efficient accountant who chose to resume peaceful family life on the contrary of Georgie who has connection issues and she hesitates to put a name to her relationship with Adam.

In the course of the book we have his views on the recording industry, pop stars and how records are marketed to the public but we also get stunning, politcally incorrect views on everything from women (favorite position - knife held to throat is considered a response), the working classes, tax, britain, booze, drugs - everything really. Despite having no morals, everything Stelfox says is so wrong but so funny. I dont think you have to agree with him, just need a sense of humour. Usually for one of these books about a man/woman going down an unchartered path to the abyss they do it slowly, one unexpected event leading to the next before they realize it, so much momentum has started that they can't stop themselves or their behavior. Not in KILL YOUR FRIENDS. Here, from very early in the book, the protagonist is a raving a-hole to everything around him. Ciò nonostante questo libro è scurrile senza motivo. Non posso credere che un individuo bestemmi e sproloqui sempre anche quando pensa. On their most recent holiday at the resort, Georgie chose not to attend. She's now living in New York and it would have been an extremely long trip. That's the excuse she gave at least. She did have some other reasons for not wanting to go.The topic of this article may not meet Wikipedia's notability guideline for biographies.
