About this deal

Your gorgeous dog is either wondering why you’re doing weird things to their food – or what sort of deliciousness this is… and they’re right! This is a good bit!! You get to see your pup develop an excitement for these yummy yummy treats, you get to work their brain, you get to exercise their mind and fill their tummy! This means I can walk you through how to start using a kong, what you should fill it with, some ideas for how to make it easy, more difficult, and guide you through the process! Kongs are one of the most popular dog toys in existence, worldwide – but do we know how to use them? Dogs Need to Play. For dogs, physical and mental development, emotions and behaviour are all influenced by healthy play. Play helps dogs expend excess energy, which is important for appropriate behaviour. KONG dog toys encourage play, satisfying dogs' instinctual needs and strengthening ... Are you one of those Dog Mamas or Dads? I sort of am, but my kong went into disuse because Indie’s a monkey, and hasn’t ever been all that food motivated. I was totally guilty of some of the advice I’ve put in here (you’ll see!) – But, since gaining the Coonhound girls, (there’s a post coming introducing these gorgeous girls!) – I’ve suddenly got two very food-oriented dogs who are ideal targets for this weapon of awesomeness.

This bit is easy. Mix it in a bowl, pop it into the kong (I found a spoon is the easiest way, though if you know a better one, do let me know!). Be careful not to make it too dense, and be very careful not to overfeed. If you’re adding dry dog food (kibble) to your dog’s Kong toy, be sure to remove that kibble from your dog’s daily food allotment. If you are adding other treats, calculate how many calories you’re giving in the form of treats and decrease your dog’s food correspondingly. With a bit of trial and error, you should be able to find a balance that allows your dog to maintain a healthy weight while still enjoying his Kong toy. Before leaving your dog alone with a Kong toy, consider your dog’s chewing style and personality. Is your dog a vigorous chewer with a reputation for destruction? In that case, don’t allow access to any toys, including a Kong, while he is unattended. Vigorous chewers should be given access to a Kong toy only when they can be closely watched, so you can take it away at the first sign of a problem. If your dog is an average chewer, however, you probably have little reason for concern. (Again, though, it’s important to remember that the risk is never zero!) AirDog Kong Toys: inspired by tennis balls, these tooth-friendly toys are as hardy as they are fun with squeakers in each one! They can be thrown far and wide, great for the dog that loves to fetch. Puppy Kong Toys: puppies can join in on the fun with these special Kong toys! They are made from soft rubber that is ideal for little teeth and weaker jaws, in both baby pink and baby blue colours!Next, consider the size and shape of your Kong toy. Is it large enough for your dog? If a large dog is given a Kong toy designed for small dogs, the risk of ingestion goes up significantly. An appropriately-sized Kong toy, however, will be difficult to swallow. Use the size guide as a general guideline when purchasing a new toy for your dog. Then, watch your dog as he plays with his Kong toy, ensuring that the toy cannot fit entirely within your dog’s mouth. As you experiment with treats and foods in your dog’s Kong toy, you need to ensure that you aren’t providing your dog with too many calories. The last thing you want is for your new enrichment to cause obesity! Try to keep your dog’s daily caloric intake relatively constant, even with the addition of these new treats. Kong dog toys encourage play, satisfying instinctual needs and strengthening the bond between dog and pet parent.Built for durability, Kong Dog Toys offer mental and physical stimulation all while meeting a dogs need to play. Well, kinda? I mean, yeah! Great idea, but please remember to adapt these for your dog, build the difficulty up. Why? Because if you make it too tough to get into, and you have a cavapoo, they’re likely not going finish it, or get to the yummy bits, because they’ve gotten frustrated and given up right at the start.
