About this deal

So does this thousand dollar fancy robot machine make sense for your home? While I know some people must have the latest invention, I feel that Narwal wouldn’t make sense for people living in studios or small one bedrooms – unless cleaning floors is the bane of your existence like me. Tyler first started freelance writing for Fast Company after spending a decade as a computer technician repairing computers and networks in peoples’ homes. Since 2013, he has contributed to dozens of publications, including The New York Times, WIRED, PCMag, Vice, Newsweek, and many more. Our test apartment consists of tiled floor with one large medium pile rug in the living room under the couch. We started off with the vacuum module attached, so that we could clean up the area of dirt and debris before mopping. I didn’t find the dustbin container that large, so if you have a ton of surface area to cover in your home you may find yourself emptying out the dustbin multiple times

You can of course program the robot to clean on a schedule—with separate programs for vacuuming and mopping. But you’ll need to gain an understanding of Narwal’s idiosyncratic menu language before you can do that. After the Narwal has recorded the layout of your home, all you need to do is attach the sweeping or mopping module, depending on the type of cleaning you want done, and press the start button on either the robot or the base station. And some of the available names are just…strange. You can’t label the room where you eat your meals “dining room,” but you can call it “restaurant.” There is a “kitchen” label, fortunately. You can name your master bedroom as such, but you can have only one other bedroom, and it will be labeled “secondary bedroom” or “children room.” You can have a “study,” but not a home office; and you can have a “living room” but not a home theater, great room, or rumpus room. You can have only one bathroom. Your remaining choices are “cloak room,”“corridor,”“balcony,” and “other.” Michael Brown / IDG Narwal detergent sheets include newly-developed proprietary ingredients and biodegradable enzymes for an instant and homogeneous water solution for stain removal. Mopping and sweeping are chores none of us really have time for, but are essential for good housekeeping.Across my kitchen's hardwood floor, the Freo vacuum was able to clean chip pieces in a single pass of the room after I had purposefully sprinkled the bits on the ground. If you want to run the vacuum less often, you can also have it do two passes for each space to make sure it gets all the dust and dirt. Smart Mapping and No-Go Zones: Freely choose the room or area you want to clean, and set the cleaning sequence as well. This mopping robot also allows you to adjust vacuuming suction levels and mopping moisture levels. Define no-go zones to build virtual barriers for mopping or vacuuming as you wish. No-go zones can be stored for all future auto-scheduled runs

Perfect Edge Navigation technology allows the robot mop to work around obstacles, and in the most efficient way possible. The Narwal Freo mobile app falls somewhere in the middle between the five brands of robot vacuums I tried in 2021 and 2022. Most functions are accessible with a few taps, but the app isn't overly cramped or crowded. If you're curious, iRobot's Roomba app still takes the cake as the best-designed robot vacuum app.Vacuum bots like the Roomba have become a common sight in homes of all kinds -- but they have a cousin, a lesser-known robot cleaner with a different purpose. These smart mop robots clean hardwood surfaces with a cleaning spray mixture and pads. While they don’t handle debris, they are designed for hardwoods, vinyl, and other materials you would otherwise clean with a mop. The base unit for the T10 is one of the biggest we’ve seen for a robot vacuum, and you’ll want to make sure that there’s enough space for it wherever it’s being set up. Inside the base station, you’ll find two large 1.1-gallon tanks – one for clean water and one for dirty water that is siphoned in while the mopping pads are being cleaned. The tanks are durable and easy to take out, and can be cleaned or refilled without any complications. Say goodbye to filling tiny trays with water – this massive tank capacity means that you can go through several cleaning cycles before the robot reminds you to add in more water or clean the dirty water tank. Still cleans great.... the first couple times using, the dirty water was embarrassing. I wash the floor every other day, not because I need to, because I can. The dirty water looks like the clean water at this point. I'll update this as time goes on, have only had a week with Scrubbie, but I like my new chore partner. The Narwal robot mop and vacuum can fit under counters and will recognize virtual boundaries around carpetes and furniture.

I'm loving this thing so far. I have decided to use this as my dedicated mop and have an i-robot roomba S9 as my dedicated vacuum (i-robot m6 mop was a big let down). I don't want to swap any parts to convert from vacuum to mop or vice versa. I just want the floors to be cleaned, with little effort or thinking much about it. The app I think is very good. Easy setup and use. I really like how I can see the narwal robots travel path and current location on the app. Mopping starts at the farthest distance from the base station to avoid dirty mops covering already-cleaned floors. After testing the Narwal Freo Robot Vacuum, it's hard to argue that its performance, features, and style don't make it a clear winner. While it's not perfect, it does get a lot of things right and, ultimately, makes cleaning a much less manual chore. You can choose from 12 names to assign to the rooms in your home. You don’t get more than 12, and you can’t change any of the existing names—even if you don’t have a cloak room or a restaurant or you don’t care to map your corridor.

Narwal Freo has its own exclusive floor cleaner, and the base station can automatically add this cleaner if you select that function. Dust bin could be bigger. Fine for my home, with no pets, but probably needs frequent attention if you have a lot of fur For example, because you can start vacuuming or mopping with a few taps on the screen, it means other people in the household can operate the machine without your involvement. You can also change some settings and do other minor things from the control center as well. The touchscreen felt fluid to swipe around on and was easy to read. The Narwal T10 is a great mop and a very good vacuum; unfortunately, it’s nearly undone by an app that’s a bit of a mess. You can’t use the robot without the app, so don’t buy this robot vac/mop hybrid unless you’re willing to tolerate a steep learning curve—and a few bugs. I’ve concluded that the labor-saving benefits here are worth the pain, but my job has me learning and mastering new things almost every day. If you’re more of the “I just want it to work” mindset, steer clear of this product. Michael Brown / IDG

The Narwal T10’s most attractive feature is its mopping capability. Most competing robot vac/mop hybrids carry a small tank of water around and dampen a rag that gets dragged across the floor as they navigate the room. On the Narwal T10, you detach the brush module that sweeps dirt into the path of its vacuum nozzle and mount a pair of six-inch triangular mop pads to its motorized spindles. Each of these pads has several hundred twisted fibers, each of which are about 3/8 of an inch long. Michael Brown / IDG Deeper and Safer Clean: The patented high-speed spinning mop pads deliver 12N downward force. The original triangular design boasts seamless rotation, leaving no streaks behind. The downward force can be flexibly chosen on various flooring types. Vinyl, tile, laminate, hardwood floors, marble...Narwal robot mop and vacuum does no harm to your floor with deep cleaning.
