We used them for whole class teaching to demonstrate, we used them as a group to build the numbers, make a number line and I also then challenged the children to show me the numbers 11-20. Leaving them out for child-initiated learning I found the children were building the numbers and then role-playing with them like the story telling in the episodes. There is not another product like this out there. I have been wanting a set like this for so long! The children can build the numbers but also manipulate them changing their number shapes (not just a straight line/tower of cubes) which helps to concrete even more the idea that amounts of the same number can look different but still have the same number. Yes, because they are hands-on concrete materials this set can be accessed by all children. I have a child in my class with Autism. He also loves the set and making the numbers. The MathLink Cubes are also a good challenge for him to develop his fine motor skills.
the product will last years. The cubes are durable and hardwearing. I have put two sets in together which gives plenty for a small group of children to use. This resource will last a long time too so very good value for money. Starting with Now in 3D, after having been thrown onto the Dimension-ator's controls by Octonaughty, Twenty-Seven now wears a purple mask with a yellow cube symbol above to symbolize she's a cube number. When she's not in a cube shape, she doesn't always have her mask on. We have recently used them to reinforce the concept of number bonds to 10 alongside the episode Blast Off where children built and found the number pairs for 10.Large items (delivered by two people, such as appliances and furniture) can be returned using our Home Collection service. This is the perfect hands-on, visual maths manipulative to use alongside teaching the class and also to support children when doing their maths activities. The Teacher’s Guide is a welcome addition to support with planning and the templates help to reduce workload. The children are very motivated by the product, and I have found it to really support their learning. What would you say are the greatest benefits of the product, both to you as the teacher and to your students? The set has everything 12 pairs of pupils need to complete the activities featured in the Teacher’s Guide.
