About this deal

Every round was amusing, and some were hilarious. Some of the answers were downright brilliant, and it was so entertaining to see different players’ personalities expressed in their answers as they read out them out. Delivery also played an important part in how the responses were received. It's always an excellent service with brilliant products at a very competitive price - will use again! Here’s a selection of cards I drew randomly, to give you an idea of what kind of prompts you might encounter: A few of the cards pretty explicit (“Walk us through the masturbation process,” for instance, and “Ask your boss for a promotion in exchange for sexual favors”). It’s easy enough to just toss any cards and magnets you don’t want in your game (the FAQs say about 15-30% of the cards are not PG), but it’s something to know about ahead of time, depending on who’s going to play. The submission cards are made of tin so they’re magnetic, but not too magnetic. Your words won’t get messed up when you make your face-down submission and you won’t spend much time wiping them off when the round is over. Ransom Notes is a party game for 3 to 6 players, aged 17+ that contains myriad magnetic words used to complete challenges such as writing a convincing argument claiming dinosaurs aren’t real or offering to apply suncream on a rapidly burning stranger on the beach or even answering questions such as what’s the biggest lie you’ve ever told. My Tuppence Worth

Protected: Podcast 27: My interview with Destiny Herndon-De La Rosa of New Wave Feminists July 14, 2017 Once you painstakingly separated all the magnetic words. And some are tiny! My poor chubby little fingers could not cope with I or it’s and other 1 to 4 letter words. Grab a handful aiming for around 75 but you don’t have to count, unless you know, you have to, in which case this is going to be a looooong game! Laying out the words in your play area can be a little time consuming and I’ve not yet found a method that works well for grouping and finding words easily to use so I’ve tended to group by word length. Grab your magnetic board and you’re ready to begin. This game is brilliant - lots of fun and really easy to play. It suggests it is for ages 17+ but my younger teens play it too with no problems. I guess some of the words and topics are more mature but it really is only as rude as you make it!

Some of the prompt cards mention themes that are a bit adult, i.e. "Where do babies come from?" or "Write a commercial for cocaine." BUT, if you do want to make it entirely family friendly, pulling about 20% of the Prompt Cards should make the game totally PG and playable for all! Starting with the player who finished their submission last, each player will read it out loud to the rest of the players. During this round three responses were created. Each player reads out their response to the other players. Judging the Responses A creative party game for making hilariously terrible sentences. Players respond to outlandish situations like "Tell someone you've clogged their toilet at a party" with just their limited pool of word magnets, leaving even master wordsmiths no choice but to create awesomely horrendous phrases. With hundreds of word magnets included, every round is always fresh, wildly creative, and tears-streaming-down-your-face funny. A great new evolution of the Apples to Apples formula. Instead of choosing written cards or filling in blanks, you build your own responses with the extensive selection of word tiles, and their choices of what words to provide (and which to leave out) lead to some hilarious results.Something I noticed in playing Ransom Notes is that the more literal your response, the less funny it can be – some of the funniest responses sound like an 80’s sitcom character who doesn’t speak English trying to answer the phone. The random words make it a lot of fun to work with, and trying to piece together a sentence or complete thought is appealing to almost everyone. Hosts should keep in mind however, that this (like ALL games) is not a game you get out to play without breaking the shrink wrap and prepping the game beforehand – there are 756 words on 14 sheets that need to be broken apart and mixed together before game time. It took me about 20 minutes to do, so please don’t make your guests help you game prep – or worse, watch you do it. Always break the plastic the day before, people! Make the best answer to an outrageous prompt... but you can only use your own pool of word magnets! WHAT’S INCLUDED: 660 high quality word magnets, 6 metal submission cards, 100 prompt cards, storage bag, and instructions. With tons of absurd prompt cards and a new pool of words every time, this party game has infinite hilarious combinations and feels fresh every time you play There are also some prefixes and suffixes in the mix, that didn’t happen to make it into this collection. So aside from potentially running out of word magnets and not having more displays to show your sentences on I’m sure you could play with a bigger player count than 6.

After all of the players have revealed their submissions, it is time to judge who provided the best response. To explain it more thoroughly, each player gets a metal tray and three “pinches” of magnet words, or around 75 tiles (but the rules state that precision isn’t that important). Someone flips over a Prompt card, reads it aloud, and everyone sets off to create their very own mini masterpiece. You’ll probably want to use a timer so that the game doesn’t drag on; 60-90 seconds should be enough. Once everyone is done, you go around the room and read them.

To return faulty items see our Returning Faulty Items policy. The suggested time limit of 90 seconds per round is too dang short! We ended up just giving everyone as much time as they needed to come up with an answer. And by “everyone” I mean “me,” because I am old and have lost my brain sparkle. Although I think I wasn’t giving myself enough magnets. Here is what the recommended number of magnets for a round looks like (“three pinches,” or about 75 magnets):
