Much was made of the fact that Stallone wrote the screenplay in three days. But, as we know, filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and the script went through numerous changes with director John G. Avildsen having much input, indeed whilst Stallone is rightly lauded for the film, Avildsen should also take much of the credit, he did, after all win an Oscar for Best Director. But not only that, Bill Conti’s outstanding score ( Let it Fly must be one of the most awe-inspiring songs of all time), as well as the universally well-acted parts from the likes of Talia Shire, Burt Young, Carl Weathers, Burgess Meredith, and Joe Spinell. James Crabe makes sure the film, despite is meagre budget, looks amazing, with Steadicam movements giving a flow at the time barely seen. Peter Weir's modern classic The Truman Show is heading to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray in July - and more details are here. remastered Blu-ray -- just now in its native 4K with the cursory boost of HDR and optional Dolby Vision support if you have a compatible setup. To the average person, these are fairly minor/perhaps unnoticeable flaws, but I thought I'd give a heads up anyway. Starring Matthew McConaughey and the late Bill [...] small part to the film's overly macho style-over-substance approach, fueled heavily by increasing Cold War tension between America and the SovietBut, the flip side is the four Best Buy single-title SteelBooks look to be the solution to the problem of missing archival extras as those appear to offer the Heavy Weight Collection discs in addition to the new 4K discs. So if you’re really after all of the bonus features for the films, that’ll probably be the better way to go - provided the myriad of disc issues is fixed soon. And finally, Dennis has offered his take on Julien Duvivier’s Flesh and Fantasy (1943) on Blu-ray from Universal Pictures via Vinegar Syndrome. Good News! Was waiting for this series to get the 4K treatment/a remaster. Good that I held off with buying a year ago.
