About this deal

Sennheiser gave me the IE200 in exchange for my honest review. At no point did Sennheiser influence my decision. My thoughts are my own. For one, they’re a very smooth listen – despite the audiophile nature Sennheiser is claiming for the IE 200, I don’t sense they’re bringing an elevated level of detail to music. With Janelle Monae’s Can’t Live without You Love, they don’t strike me as the most revealing or exacting pair, but the sound they produce goes down easily.

Treble: As I know many IEMs will have issues with treble but Sennheiser has done a great job here too. It's on the spot not going up and down but perfect. Everyone who is into headphones surely has heard of the German Sennheiser. Sennheiserhas been active for over 75 years and they are one of the most respected companies in audio. Recently its headphone division was acquired by the Swiss Sonova group, and that’s starting to show. The in-canal fit is secure, especially because of the braided cable’s semi-rigid, pliable section that loops up and over your ear. In the box, you get a generous array of ear tip options—three pairs of silicone and memory foam tips, each in small, medium, and large sizes. We prefer the foam tips because they almost always improve the fit, passive noise isolation, and bass depth. You can of course use your own tips, and here I would suggest rolling a few because the net effect of tips such as the Final E is a much stronger bass response which some might prefer. Now on the critical wish list. The IE200 is not the most resolving IEM and that also I think gives the Senny some of its special sauce. And the only thing I would change is giving it a bit more resolving power by boosting the ultra highs and giving the IE200 more treble extension.Sennheiser uses recessed mmcx ports that are not compatible with many third-party cables. The IEMs rotate freely along the cable joint, but this should not raise any concerns about durability. The mmcx port is recessed into the chassis. Sennheiser Proprietary MMCX connectors. Though a very good connection with benefits not easy/cheap or abundantly easy to source out new cables especially if you only have one product that needs this connection. I think Sennheiser has done a sterling job with the IE 200 in terms of what it brings to this very competitive price point in the portable audio world. This is a gateway drug to the rabbit hole that we lovingly call 'audiophilia'. With the legendary Sennheiser build quality and at the price it has been launched, this is a no-brainer recommendation for someone looking to taste what a properly tuned DD set is supposed to sound like and can accomplish with one 7mm driver that competitors with 12-20 drivers can't even fathom. With the IE 200 Sennheiser is featuring their dual-tuneable ear tips. Basically, this means that you can tune the bass presentation depending on how you place the tip on the nozzle. When you place the tip more to the front, the bass presentation is lighter as you can see in the image below.

The product is returned in original condition (with brand’s/manufacturer's box, MRP tag intact, user The build quality and finish of my set of IE 200 is perfect, there’s really nothing bad I can say about it. Important to see and note is that the IE 200 has a rib/ridge on the canal so the tip can be held in place. The nozzle is also sealed with a plastic mesh so that dirt and wax can’t easily enter the IEMs. In fact, that mesh logo can be found in the foam tips as well, they share the same design. Sennheiser/Deutsche Gründlichkeit. As all our ears are different shapes & size so what I hear as bright or bass heavy -you might hear as dull and Vise-Versa; just something to be mindful of. Sources: E1DA SG3, Shanling UP5, Geshelli JNOG J2 with AKM4493 chip. Truthear SHIO (Dual Cirrus Logic 43198 DAC Chips)We’ve of course featured and reviewed many Sennheiser products here on HFN. My personal favorite Sennheiser headphones are the HD 800 S, the HD 650 (on tubes) and the HD 660S. My most used Sennheiser IEM is the IE 900. Since I received this unit from my fellow audiophile Pulkit Dreamz, I am grateful to him. And as I've said in all of my evaluations, the same is true for this one: all of the concepts I've expressed below are entirely my own, original ideas that haven't been influenced by anyone else. A very warm welcome! Sennheiser, to the entry level space of audiophiles with the IE 200s. It’s an addition to their existing IE series lineup of IEMs IE900, IE 600 and IE 300. Let’s have a look at it closely in this review. So final set up listening was done with the iBasso DX160 to the A90D and out single ended. DUNU S&S tips and a few Oktoberfest beers. The IE 200, as you can see in the pictures, is small in size just like the IE 300 but it does look unique. They probably are the least impressive looking IEMs of Sennheiser’s IE-line-up, but you can clearly see they have their own style. When you slide open the inner box, you will immediately see the 2 earpieces on top, embedded in foam. Below you have the cable placed in the middle and below that you fill find the IE 200 safety guide and a little carrying pouch which contains the tips (3 pairs of Viscoelastic foam and silicone tips (S/M/L)). Sennheiser IE200 works fine off a smartphone, although it find it to sound better with dedicated DAC/AMP and Audio players. I tried the IE200 with my colleague's M31S and it was sounding pretty decent off it as well. But once I plugged it into my sources such as the Hidizs XO, the Astell&Kern SE200, and the Sony ZX707, the result was even better. It synergizes well with my Sony and delivers a rich, smooth sound that I personally prefer.
