She spent the first few years of her life in the village of Drumbeg near Belfast before moving to England. At age 14 she moved to London to a specialist drama and ballet school. She wrote her first book aged twenty four. Pensaba que era la traducción o que en UK era habitual utilizar ese tipo de fórmulas de cortesía añeja, pero leyendo algunas reseñas me di cuenta de que no, de que a los angloparlantes les chirriaba tanto como a mí. Hablamos de que los personajes mayores rondan los 70 años es decir que son hijos de casi mediados del siglo XX.I love multi-generational sagas. They are such a great break from all the thrillers I love reading and this one came at the perfect time. I was able to lose myself in Posy’s world and what a story it was. Starting when she was young and then jumping to when she is almost 70, I immediately found myself engrossed in this story. Posy has not had the most happy of childhoods and even later in life, she has encountered a few obstacles. Now she is nearing the end of her life and trying to decide whether she should scale down. No había leído nada de esta autora, tengo ganas de leer la saga de las siete hermanas, aunque preferí empezar por este que es autoconclusivo, imagino que no he acertado mucho con la elección ya que es una autora que en general tiene muy buenas reseñas. Dopo poche pagine ritroviamo Posy ormai settantenne. In Admiral House ha creato, con pazienza e talento, un meraviglioso parco ricco di essenze arboree e fioriture. Questo luogo è il fulcro delle storie di molti personaggi, tutti con un proprio ruolo, che si intrecciano all’interno della storia.

Es un libro narrado en dos tiempos, el primero nos muestra a una protagonista (Posy) desde su infancia hasta su juventud y el segundo en una Posy de 70 años. Los bloques de historia se van alternando de modo que vamos conociendo cosas del pasado que nos hacen ir entendiendo lo que pasa en la actualidad. A beautifully English family saga, with dramatic secrets from the past. Set in the idyllic coastal town of Southwold. Which is a complete load of crap. The reason they cannot be together simply no longer exists - if indeed it ever did. I saw Daddy give Maman a look, but she was reading her letters over her cup of café au lait and didn’t seem to notice. Maman always got lots of letters from France, all written on very thin paper, even thinner than a butterfly wing, which suited Maman, because everything about her was so delicate and slender.I'm Kristin. I always have a book with me wherever I go! I am married and have two chocolate labs - Maddie and Chloe. In addition to reading, I also enjoy yoga and walking - I am a big audio fan and love listening to audio books while out walking! A multi generational tale that was sweet and romantic and while it wasn’t on the edge of your seat suspense or intrigue it was charming and readable but not one for my favorites shelf. The second part of the novel is Posy’s “current” life — dealing with the problems of her two grown sons, trying to figure out what to do with the rapidly deteriorating Admiral House that has become too expensive to maintain, and the sudden reappearance of a long-lost love. (Does it get more trite than that?) The Butterfly Room’ began its life as a manuscript I wrote almost ten years ago called ‘Red Admiral’. I loved Posy. I found her to be such a charming character who really cared about all those in her life. She felt genuine and honest, and I never felt that I had to wonder about her motivations at any time. Her two sons could not be any more different from each other. I took an immediate dislike to the older one, and it turns out, for good reason. The younger one won my heart over time and again. Riley evokes empathy for her characters but there is also plenty of anger, despair and heart-wrenching emotion, confirming that Riley can elicit a full spectrum of emotions from one book. Well, I couldn't ask, because he wasn't here, but I had to trust and believe there was a very good reason for the murders in our butterfly kingdom.Como de costumbre entrañables siempre las narraciones de Lucinda, ya puede ser la historia dura pero la sutileza que utiliza siempre lo convierte en algo amable de leer.
