In the years following its release, Urban Hymns has received much acclaim. In 2000 it was voted number 213 in Colin Larkin's All Time Top 1000 Albums. Melody Maker named Urban Hymns as the number one album of 1997 in its year-end list, [40] and the album ranked at number three on NME 's year-end critics' poll.
