Vinegar contains acetic acid that is deadly to weeds. Usually, the vinegar we use in our homes contains only 5% of this acid, which isn’t enough to get the job done. This is why many people say that vinegar doesn’t work for killing weeds. This is the third book in the DI James Walker series and I loved the first two so I was super excited to read this one! Good points: I enjoyed the crime element of this book and the ever changing plot and new developments. It certainly keeps you guessing. The plot was really gripping and interesting and unusual. I haven't read a thriller based around a wedding before.

For turf hardening - aids disease and cold resistance and worm cast suppression apply: at 2+ grams per square metre in solution – up to 3 applications can be made with 1 to 2 being common When Rachel left the wedding breakfast before her speech, newly-wed Libby was furious. But as the night went on with no sign of her maid-of-honour, Libby started to realise something was very, very wrong…* I certainly couldn't predict who the killer was and I enjoyed how the story concluded, but I was just expecting more blood and more snow, so it just wasn't as exciting as the previous two instalments in the series. As with the previous two books, the story has a fast pace, plenty of clues, red herrings and suspects along the way. One of the Team is at a wedding on New Year’s Eve when the brides sister goes missing. DI Walker is called in to investigate a suspected murder and he begins to question the wedding guests to identify suspects. For lawn and grass green-up apply at 0.5 to 1 gram per square metre in solution - 6 applications can be made with 2 or 3 being reasonable I guessed pretty early on who the killer was, but that didn’t deter me from carrying on reading and exposing if my theory was right.

This weed control method is perfect for areas that experience wet and mild winters, especially the Southern States.I needed more. The story was often repetitive with the reader constantly reminded of the progression of events. And several of the twists, including the final reveal, were quite predictable. I also didn't see the point of the detective being so uncharacteristically worrying as it served no real purpose in the story. Let this trait hinder or compromise his investigation or, better yet, let it be an asset in solving the case.

I really liked the softer side to James’ character in this book where he has become a Father and it was nice to travel outside of Kirkby Abbey into the beautiful setting of Lake Windermere. The weed’s foliage contains a waxy coating that offers protection that can repel vinegar when applied alone. The soap comes in handy as it counteracts this defensive mechanism, allowing the vinegar to penetrate into the plant. However, this method is not a long-term solution, as the plants will regrow from their attached roots that are still alive underground. Try Using Vinegar I like the main character and I would read another book in his series for sure, I’ve developed a nice bond with the character and Kirkby Abbey that I want to continue but with a bit more drama!

Broadleaf weed killers work by disrupting the growth of the plant and killing them from the inside. Christmas has gone, and James is happy that nothing significant has happened like the previous two years he has been a DI in Cumbria. Although the third book in the series, the book can easily be read as a standalone and there's even a character list at the start of the book to introduce you to who's who which I always find very useful. When I selected this book, I wasn’t aware that this was the 3rd volume in a series, but thankfully there is an intro chapter which gives an overview on who the characters are, what their relationship is, some non-spoiler highlights from the previous books and it makes the listener / reader feel confident to continue without having all the details. I think the synopsis from the cover gives just the right amount of info, so I’ll include it below for reference:

on new years eve before the bells toll the new year in... a lake near the wedding venue will be being searched for the missing bridesmaid This is a slowly soil soluble high iron granular fertiliser. It contains the moss killing ingredient ferrous sulphate. If you are going to apply at the highest rate and it is the first time you are going to try this treatment I would suggest two applications of 2 to 3g/m²each and space the two applications by a few days. This assists penetration deeper into the moss whilst being gentler on the grass. It also allows you to assess the success of the first application and therefore decide on the application rate of a second application. See Ferrous Sulphate Application for more details.
