About this deal

I didn’t rate this book as high as the first books in the Things We Never Got Over series because certain aspects of the story just didn’t jive with me. So maybe it’s a “me, not you thing.” Sloane Walton: A fiery and determined small-town librarian, Sloane is on a quest for justice and carries the weight of a dark secret. Her strong-willed personality and deep-seated dislike for Lucian create a dynamic and tension-filled relationship. Storyline Sloane is my favourite kind of heroine. Sweet, sassy and fierce. Not willing to let the hero walk all over her. I loved everything about Sloane and how she makes Lucian work for it.

Determined not to be hurt by Lucian again, Sloane resolves to move forward without him. As the story unfolds, both characters are faced with personal challenges that force them to confront their deepest fears and make life-altering choices. Will Lucian find the strength to overcome his past and embrace a future with Sloane? Can Sloane trust her heart to a man who has repeatedly pushed her away? Broken men break women. It’s what Lucian believes, what he’s witnessed, and he’s not going to take that chance with Sloane. He’d rather live a life of solitude than put her in danger. But he learns the hard way that leaving her means leaving her unprotected from other threats. Maeve just texted. Chloe and her girlfriend just arrived so they’ll be here in a few minutes,” Sloane reported. We finally have Lucian and Sloane’s story! I’ve been chomping at the bit for this book and I have to say that Lucy Score’s writing just keeps getting better and better. What I Loved: She hopes to someday write from a sailboat, oceanfront condo, or tropical island with reliable Wi-Fi.Things We Left Behind” by Lucy Score is a captivating enemies-to-lovers romance novel that takes readers on a rollercoaster ride of passion, secrets, and redemption. With well-developed characters and an engaging plot, this book will keep you hooked from beginning to end. About the author And when Lucian learns the hard way that leaving Sloane is impossible, he vows to do everything he can to keep her safe. Whatever the cost . . . Does anyone need anything in here? A beverage? A clean dish towel? Some sanity?” I offered, admiring the platters of food.

What does this mean? It means Sloane and Lucian are gonna see each other more than they bargained for. If only they could control the way they ACTUALLY want each other 👀Lucian Rollins, the mogul who wants revenge, is a lean, mean machine. He is obsessed with erasing his father’s legacy from the family name and spends his days manipulating powerful people and erecting an impregnable empire. He will be less vulnerable to danger as his wealth and influence grow. This was a great conclusion to a fabulous series. It brought to light the love of friendship and how found families are more than just blood. This book was a satisfying ending to all three couples and had two amazing epilogues. Why not a 5-star rating? The story follows Sloane, a woman whose father recently passed away. His death has reminded Sloane that she is approaching forty without fulfilling her dreams of a family, and there aren't any prospects on the horizon. Though there are plenty of nice guys in town, the only one who makes her blood heat is Lucian, the bane of Sloane's existence. Now that their friends are coupled up, they've been spending more time together - and it's a constant reminder of the things that tore them apart. Sloane and Lucian have been guarding the secrets of their past for the last two decades, and now that's finally catching up with them. They can't stand to be in the same room together, but they can't seem to stay away from each other either, no matter how much they'd like to. Unfortunately, the death of Sloane's father has brought a few things to light... and Sloane will never be able to look at Lucian the same way again. It had become yet another little tradition between just the two of us, sentimental gifts exchanged privately on our anniversary. This morning, I’d given Sloane hers, a custom-made dress by the same designer who had made her wedding gown. She was wearing it now, and every time I looked directly at her, my heart beat just a little faster. Taking advantage of the distraction, I grabbed Sloane by the wrist and nodded toward the front door.

Crowley: She was a horrible mother. Did I tell you the time she almost traded me for 3 pigs? Three! I was an attractive child, I could juggle. That's worth 5 pigs at least. Claire: You totally were. And now you're just... I don't know. Nicer. And kind of a doof. No offense. Karen sighed as she watched Max head for the staircase. “Tell me the truth. Am I too old for this?”Our oldest son, Caden was twenty-five. We’d finalized his and his sister Caitlin’s adoption from foster care when Sloane was pregnant with our first baby, a boy we named Simon. In the course of four months, we’d gone from zero children to three. And we’d added a fourth, Juliana, just one year later. Sloane Walton is a fiery young woman who is committed to continuing her father’s fight for fairness. She plans to do so once she learns what the man she despises did to (or for) her loved ones. Sloane trusts Lucian about as far as she can throw his designer-suited physique because they share a dark secret from their history and hate for one other. Let’s go see who it is,” I told Amara. We arrived in time to see my mother-in-law, Karen, stroll through the door with my mother, their boyfriends, and their suitcases. I was still withholding judgment on both men. Even though the barrel-chested Max, who charmed Karen through salsa dancing, and the Purple Heart recipient veteran José looked at my mother as if she’d given birth to the sun, the moon, and everything in between, I wasn’t ready to trust either of them any further than I could throw them.

Sloane and Lucian are really well-rounded characters. Sloane’s relatability is endearing, and I couldn’t help but root for her aspirations of building a family. Lucian, despite his occasional exasperating moments, is a character I couldn’t help but look up to. Their rollercoaster of a relationship had me on the edge of my seat throughout! Castiel reveals that his vessel Jimmy Novak has been dead since Raphael killed him in Lucifer Rising

Let me know if there’s anything she needs,” I said, automatically distancing myself from the responsibility of looking after her. Yes, Things We Left Behind from Lucy Score was published on September 5 2023. Is Things We Left Behind spicy? Sloane snuggled against me and let out a sigh of contentment. “Every year just keeps getting better,” she said.
