About this deal

Tom Percival, as expected, has created a positive and inspiring story about dealing with challenging situations and believing in yourself. This book is the ideal pathway into conversations about resilience and I can already foresee it being the front of circle times within my Y1 classroom….especially within the first weeks of the new school year. I also found it an excellent read with my 5yo son, who struggles with resilience. Reading about Tilda in a book allowed for a new viewpoint rather than the same reassurances from mum and dad. As with all the other books in the series, Tilda Tries Again is the perfect addition to all primary school libraries and book corners and can be woven into the curriculum with great ease. I think these books are amazing, necessary and perfect for small kids to start getting familiar with different feelings and emotions. What book do you wish you had written?‘How I came up with the meaning of life – A true story’ by Tom Percival. Because then I’d have nothing to keep me up at night! Tom Percival creates wonderful picture books and this Bright Feelings series is particularly good, especially for those looking at books to support children's mental and emotional health. Here, Tilda finds a way to deal with sudden changes in circumstance, what feels desperately hard becomes a means of finding new ways of doing things. The illustrations are beautiful and work well with the story, the images reinforcing Tilda's emotional journey throughout. It's a well written story with a lovely character in Tilda, who finds inner strength and resilience. An excellent book to help discuss these issues with children or just as an enjoyable story. Jon Klassen. I have a huge amount of time for Jon Klassen’s hyper-minimal style, it’s SO stark and yet so full of character and humour. Very impressive.

It is positive, entertaining and such a well-written story that children will relate to. What is so good is that Tilda brushes herself down and decides to try again. It also refrains from it being a sob story or self-centred story. It does in a fun way, promote reslience and that there will be a better day. It could also have a positive impact on children in a way that may just make them feel good inside and out and ready to try again, as Tilda does. It was never really the ‘stories’ as such that engrossed me so much in her books as the portraits of her characters that were all so vivid and alive I would often think about something that one of them had done and think that it was someone I actually KNEW who had done it. Armistice Day: A Collection of Remembrance - Spark Interest and Educate Children about Historical Moments Design a series of motivational posters to encourage people to keep going when they are feeling a bit low.Perhaps an odd choice as a teenager, but I went through a stage of reading as many Mary Wesley books as I could get my hands on. She just seemed to be so skilled at portraying people of all ages and walks of life. As a teenager I marvelled at the fact that she could so clearly write about what it felt like to be that age, being as she had her first novel published aged 71. Of course now that I’m 35 and can still remember EXACTLY what it felt like to be 16 it doesn’t seem that unlikely anymore – ah, the follies of youth. Another addition to the A Big Bright Feelings series. This newest one is beautifully illustrated, and it has some deeper meanings for sure. Realised I’d never done a review for this book despite reading to my class as part of my anti-bullying week teaching. Look at this trailer to promote the ‘Big Bright Feelings’ series of books. Could you create an animated version of Tilda? Tilda's world is just as she likes it . . . until one day, it turns completely UPSIDE DOWN. All of a sudden, everything is topsy-turvy, and nothing feels right. Things that were once easy now seem incredibly challenging. Can Tilda discover a new way to approach her problems and believe in herself? Another terrific book from Tom that helps children to understand, identify and cope with big feelings. The beautifully told story about a little girl who has her world turned upside down is very relatable, and as we aren't told why, makes it easy for children to insert their own worries into Tilda's story. Shadow, light and bright bursts of colour help to show the changing emotions as Tilda finds a way to cope and move forward with hope in her heart and a big hug from Mum. Anyone can enjoy reading and develop a love of books and bedtime stories, just like me and my family.’

I love Tilda, she is full of life and very likeable. The story is well written, with a good message to send to children. I really like the illustrations too. Watch a ‘read aloud’ video based on this book. Could you record your own narrated version of the story?
