I’m a huge fan of my Best Travel Vest and wouldn’t trade it for any other brand whatsoever. Really, there’s not much to dislike about this thing! Travel vests have earned a place on many frequent traveler’s kit lists because they can be so extraordinarily useful when out and about and away from home.This is the newest product of the SCOTTeVEST product line and the one that I’ll be reviewing in this post. I really wish they had come out with this when my girls were younger, it certainly seems like such a huge help with travel – especially taxis and such! OMG. Having experienced a life with a travel vest, I can think of so many reasons why travel vests should be part of every traveler’s wardrobe. I love the make-it-mint collection because they offer so many colors. These cute vests are not the most practical, but if you are looking for a stylish safari vest, this is a great choice. I’m a little concerned that my daughter – who is generally uncomfortable in car seats – will not find this comfortable, but am willing to deal with that in exchange for not logging a big car seat around. A celebrated cheaper alternative to the SCOTTeVEST is the ExOfficio’s FlyQ travel vest for both men US / UK and women US / UK. Layering is essential. Game drives usually start early and end late when it is cold. Temperature can soar in the middle of the day, so shedding some layers will save you a heat stroke. My husband is tall (6ft 3) – which travel vest would you recommend?! We will be travelling for three months and he will have to keep three passports, plus money and phone in his vest (gilet!). For long-haul flights, where you’ll probably need to carry the most amount of stuff (like passports, iPad, glasses, eye mask, etc.), this vest is more than enough.If you buy anything before you travel make it an external hard drive like my Transcend Storejet 2TB US / UK.

Vests are great for hands free usage, including photographers and videographers that like to switch things up and shoot on the go. Not surprisingly – as it made it to our list in the first place! – the Autumn Ridge Traders Safari Vest is another great option travel vest. Specifically intended for use on the hot plains for safaris, this travel vest nicely blends the need to keep cool and the desire to leave nothing essential behind as you head out. For trips where you can drink the tap water, we love the Super Sparrow – Craig prefers the screw top, where as I go for the straw US / UK. Zips tend to be prefered over velcro fastenings for extra protection and coverage although velcro allows faster removal. Lightweight They’re both awesome products! We started using the Bubblebum for our older one at 6yo. We started using the Ride Safer around 3.5yo but only because we were traveling full-time and a regular car seat just wouldn’t have worked. But for a more “normal” family travel schedule, I think the Ride Safer vest is a great choice starting around 4yo 🙂 Reply
