Movement, combat, you-go-I-go turn style and the fluidity of the game is just so good. After having played I game, I just feel like playing another. This, for me, is the best kind of game and not really something that Age of Sigmar (or any wargame) is gaming me on a consistent basis. The abilities and initiative dice are really sweet Also, bases. There are two bags of bases in the Warcry: Red Harvest box, as well as a scattering of loose bases. Most of the models come with various building options, with alternate heads or weapons, and there are a few additional daggers and axes that can be attached to those warriors you deem worthy once your builds are complete.Unfortunately for Middle-Earth fans, GW didn’t haveanything else to reveal for the Middle-Earth Strategy Battle Game at Warhammer Fest 2023, though spokesperson Wade Pryce assured fans there would be “more news soon” for the game. Warcry, Games Workshop’s high fantasy skirmish game set within the Age of Sigmar universe, takes centre-stage this week with a brand-new starter set – arguably, the first of its kind within the range. Climbmeans climbing up or down any terrain. It is possible to combine a normal move, a jump and a climb into one movement. You just measure the distance you climb up or down as you would if you were walking along as normal. The important thing here: you can only end your move action when the centre of your base is on the battlefield flor or on a platform. So you cannot end your move hanging on a wall. Sometimes this means that you miss some of your movement (you move up to the terrain you want to climb, but you only got 2″ move remaining and the hight is 3″. You then have to end your first move action and begin the next one to climb up).Crypt of Blood definitely keeps the torch burning. With an excellent selection of miniatures, an easy-to-follow beginner’s guide, and all the other gubbins you need to get started with Warcry, there’s not much to dislike in this box. The only real mark against the new Warcry starter set is the dreadful paper gaming mat, but everything else in the set is pretty superb – especially those magnificent Crimson Court models. Warcry is the skirmish counterpart to age of Sigmar, withsmall warbands instead of full Age of Sigmar Armies, and gorgeous 3D terrain. The next boxed set will be Nightmare Quest, and will pit the noble Stormcast Eternals against the delusional ghouls of the Flesheater Courts. There’s no doubt that these are some lovely models, and very much prove just how diverse and characterful the Stormcast Eternals range can be. The Crimson Court I think my dedicated Warcry gaming group will transition towards playing mainly campaign and the pitched battle battleplans.
