This week we started sharing a frequently asked question on our social media to help educate our followers about BabyDam. This has spurred us on to delve into a frequently asked question on our blog each month to provide more of an overview around BabyDam, but also around the topic as a whole. Located just downriver from the Pulteney Bridge, the Pulteney Weir (or just “the Weir” for short) was built in the late Middle Ages to prevent the river from flooding the town of Bath.

Another important aspect of the dams project was future-proofing the lower dam by improving the dam's infrastructure and capability, as well as re-profiling the lakes damaged banks. We want our customers to have everything they need at their disposal and we want to make the buying process as easy as possible.Our most common users of the BabyDam are between newborn and 3 years, but we have some customers that use it up to the age of 7. BabyDam works very effectively with older children by leaving a small section left dry to store their bath toys. It also depends on your bath size. If you have something like an L shaped bath, then you could continue using this even for adults! As once sectioned off with BabyDam it provides you with potentially 2 sections for bathing which are both averagely sized.

Just upstream from the weir is Pulteney Bridge, constructed in the early 1770s. It crosses the River Avon and replaced the need for a ferry. The bridge was designed by Robert Adam and named after William Jonestone and Frances Pulteney. They secured the funding from Parliament, so they named the bridge after themselves. It’s great for me at bath time, it’s easy to fit, once you get used to it. I love that it only takes a minute or so to fill area. We had to bathe the kids at grandmas recently in the whole bath, what a nightmare and so slow. I’ll be getting her one of these now too! The lower gate is now open again for exit only. Unfortunately we are not able to offer entrance through this route at the moment. How long will the work take? BabyDam can be used from the outset with newborn babies. How? Simply section off a much smaller area away from the taps and fill it with water to just above the newborn baby’s shoulders to keep them warm. If you remove the safety porthole (plug) from the BabyDam this will prevent you from overfilling the bath. We've installed a temporary Tea Shed in the Cabinet, at the top of the garden. This tranquil part of the garden is the ideal spot to enjoy tea and cake. The Tea Shed is open weekends and school holidays (Wed-Sun). Can I still use the lower gate? its relatively new so you'll be hard pushed to find anyone who used one!! all you can do is buy and try!! One of only four Palladian bridges of this design in the world can be crossed at Prior Park, which was created in the 18th century by local entrepreneur Ralph Allen, with advice from 'Capability' Brown and the poet Alexander Pope. Brought this instead of a baby bath, thought it would last abit longer, should have not bothered really.
