About this deal

We re-tested the Canon EOS R5's video performance after the arrival of its 1.1.0 firmware update, which promised to "extend video shooting times in some situations". You can read the full results of our video tests here, but the short answer is that while it slightly improves recovery times in some modes and situations, it's not a radical change from the original figures quoted for the EOS R5. An 18W PD battery should be able to charge the LP-E6NH (only; note only the newer "NH" designated battery) when the power to the camera is OFF. You cannot have the camera ON and charge with 18W.

With DSLRs I could simply hold the camera up to my eyes without having to turn it on to figure out if I liked the way a scene looked through the lens. Now I need the camera to be turned on to do the same thing. Of course, I could simply leave the camera on, but the decreased battery life of mirrorless cameras makes that a suboptimal choice, especially when on longer trips. Canon EOS R5 + EF16-35 F2.8 L II USM @ 18mm, ISO 100, 1.6s, f/11.0 Top LCD ScreenThe Canon BG-R10 Battery Grip is designed for use on both the Canon R5 and R6 mirrorless camera bodies. It will hold up to two extra Canon LP-E6NH batteries and extends the cameras battery life for longer shooting sessions, such as at weddings or events. It has an ergonomic, tactile handle that mimics the camera's handgrip and has vertical controls and shutter release for portraiture orientation. More Because it's aimed more at the hobbyist shooter than the professional, the EOS R6 has two SD UHS-II card slots, while the R5 caters to pros with one SD UHS-II and one CFexpress slot. On the battery history screen, find the battery serial number (1) matching the serial number that the battery is labeled with. Design-wise, we’re not looking at a game-changer with the Canon EOS R5. But given the usability of the Canon EOS R, which it's heavily based on, that’s no bad thing.

I own the following power bank : PD Pioneer 26800mAh Portable Charger Model: RP-PB058. ( https://www.ravpower.com/products/rp-pb058-usb-c-power-bank) You get all the expected mod cons, and then some. Wi-fi is there, of course, but in exotic 5GHz as well as 2.4GHz. There’s an FTP client built-in, allowing press photographers to offload images to remote servers as they shoot. I've seen reports of people using a USB-PD capable powerbank to power the R5 over the USB-C port during longer (video)shoots and the result seems to be that the R5 will get most of its power from the powerbank. It will still drain the internal battery, but much slower than without the powerbank attached. Batteries can also deteriorate if left flat or stored for a long time without use. This means that even if you have not used the camera much the battery condition may still have suffered. I'm guessing but I think the Power IQ 2.0 is not a PD type device. It is probably like the Samsung Fast Charger for android phones. My Samsung charger didn't work on my R5. According to the power meter, my camera draws about 1,400 ma @ 5.2 volts which should be possible with the Samsung. However, it doesn't seem to work. USB-C chargers have 3 or 4 modes they operate in depending on what type of device they are charging. The Power Delivery circuitry figures out what the device needs and supplies it, which is a different setup than a straight USB-C charger.

I have a dummy battery which also needs a usb power via pd (only one of my mains chargers worked). Haven’t tried any rechargeable larger batteries to but in due course I will. Canon also says this slight advantage for the R6 extends to focusing – while the EOS R5 can apparently focus in light down to -6EV, the EOS R6 goes slightly further by being the first EOS camera to offer a minimum EV for AF of -6.5EV. That's why, with the introduction of the professional EOS-1D Mark III camera and LP-E4 battery in 2007, Canon added a new menu item. As shown by the arrow, flip out the battery charger's prongs and insert the prongs into a power outlet. One of the biggest differences between these two full-frame cameras is their sensors. While the Canon EOS R5 has a brand-new 45MP sensor, the EOS R6 uses a chip that's very similar to the 20.1MP one found in the Canon 1D X Mark III.
