About this deal

Cragganmore was marketed by United Distillers under their Classic Malts brand. [5] in 1997, United Distillers, now renamed United Distillers & Vintners , become a part of Diageo. [6] The Whisky [ edit ] Pretend for a minute that you are a producer, you make X number of bottles per year and release them at price Y, all of the bottles easily sell, so what do you do next year ? You increase the price, if indeed all of those bottle sell the next year, you raise the price again, and so on until you find the point of losing demand – and that’s the price of your bottle. It feels like I am on an exploration of Diageo’s Classic Malts. This year, I have tasted the Talisker 10 yo, the Cardhu 12 yo and now the Cragganmore 12 yo. Can you believe it, it is another new distillery that I have not tried before. Cragganmore represents Speyside in the Classic Malts series.

NOSE: Fresh summer fruit salad drizzled with lavender honey, wildflowers with hints of cream and spices. The nose is quite sweet and delicate. Our bins hold 18-24 bottles of wine or Champagne or 2-3 cases of lager when filled with ice and water. Drinks will be chilled in 30-45 minutes and will be kept cold for several hours, especially if kept in the shade. Special Delivery Requests? Let us know if we need instructions for where to find your house or want us to leave your wine in the shed!

Nose: the barley-malt shows sweet and tart citrus; there is also just a hint of grape fruitiness, and very light wood influence. There is no significantly noticeable smoke and only the faintest hint of peat. This nose is straightforward, pleasant, inoffensive, but not remarkable All that combines for a bottle that's just spectacularly even-handed. It's got hints of everything that makes good scotches great, blended together into a wonderfully balanced mix that is likely to satisfy whatever craving brings you to a bottle of scotch. The taste is quite light compared to the scent, mixing honey with a basket of nutty flavors. The finish starts off a little peppery, and rolls out into pleasant, smoky warmth. It’s a pleasant, and only slightly complex sipper, just the sort of thing for a go-to single malt for everyday drinking or to use as a starter or next step Scotch. Let’s clear something up right here right now, the is no correlation between price and quality when it come to scotch, and the proof is quite simple. Cragganmore 12 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Whisky Rating and Review | Wine Enthusiast". www.wineenthusiast.com . Retrieved 7 October 2023.Palate: Very "smooth" as they say. Definitely grassy, with apple and vanilla the 2 dominant flavors. Again a light whiff of smoke to add balance. Very polite and easy going. 46%abv would really help things here in they way of flavor. The flavors here are quite nice and balanced, they're just weak. But there you have it. You might think you’re getting a whole lot more when you spend twice as much, but your not, granted it might taste different than a cheaper bottle, but don’t confuse “different” with “better” If you prefer the taste of one over the other than you’re going to pay for it, you’re not getting better scotch just one that tastes differnt. The Cragganmore 12 yo is a sherried expression that is lightly peated. The Cragganmore range also has a Distillers Edition, and I have seen a 25 yo as well. There are various independent bottlings from Cragganmore available too. Nose: Sweet, floral and very traditionally Speyside. Pangs of orange peels and citrus start us off on our journey and are joined by light apples and stone fruit. The sherried elements provide toffee and caramel and are supported by delicate florals – heather and a touch of menthol. There’s a hint of ginger cake, barley and roasted nuts here which provide some additional depth.

The Cragganmore 12 Year Old is the entry level malt of this Speyside distillery and is also the representative of the region in Diageo's Classic Malts of Scotland series. I am trying it from a 200ml bottle that came in a green box with a Talisker and Lagavulin. seriously this whole business of marketing scotch, wine, etc, has been elevated to absurdity, and I think the real mission of reviewers such as yourself should be exposing it to the public for what it is not perpetuating it. I couldn’t disagree more with Richard Thomas’ review and rating of Cragganmore. Cragganmore is not only the best Scotch that I’ve ever put in my mouth, but one of the best things I’ve ever put in my mouth period. Taste: this has gotten a lot richer in the mouth by having taken air for a long period of time; the translation of flavours from the nose is good, but those flavours were not too remarkable to begin with. Long aired, this has become quite sweet, quite citrusy, and with more noticeable fruitiness than in the nose. At first, and for at least the first year, this was a good bit more staid and ultra-restrained. I have to give this at least 2 more points than I would have for the bottle's first yearFinish: Short to medium in length and with a very pleasant gentle progressive fade. A touch of cask spicing and barley malts. An intriguingly smoky single malt from the Cragganmore Distillery, released as part of Diageo's Special Release 2019 series. Yes, smoky Cragganmore! Even the owl on the label looks surprised by this! No feathers ruffled here, though, because it's a rather tasty expression indeed. This one was matured in refill American oak casks for 12 years before being bottled at cask strength. I need to reply to this. I work in a liquor store. Markup is only actually about 65-70%. Not the 200-300% your stating.
