Dell does not make any claims to coverage of DCI-P3—a color space designed for digital video—but we measured it at 90.8%, a good measure for a monitor not geared to that mode. We also measured it as covering 81.2% of Adobe RGB—good for a general-purpose monitor, although photographers working in that space will want to opt for a monitor with more complete coverage—such as the Lenovo ThinkVision P32u-10, which fills 99.7% of Adobe RGB, or a full-fledged professional monitor such as the NEC MultiSync PA311D-BK. The 10-bit (8-bit + FRC) IPS panel installed in the Dell P3222QE monitor has been able to demonstrate high-quality gradients, both at default settings and after making manual edits. Of course, a large diagonal affects the visibility of transitions, but still, few people can upset such a result. All things considered, the P3222QE actually puts up a good performance. Its gamut is indeed limited to 99% of the sRGB space, which will leave lovers of wide-gamut panels wanting, but its color space is easy on the eyes and, qualitatively, this is a very good sRGB panel. Gamma performance is perfect out of the box nailed at 2.2 with just an 0.01 deviation, and color accuracy is tested at a Delta-E (difference from real) of 1.67. This is good enough for photo editing work, which the P3222QE is great for at its large size and high resolution. From a design standpoint, the P3222QE offers the already well-known Dell approach from other brand models we’ve tested over the past couple of years, and from an ergonomics point of view, it will give you a full range of features that many competitors will envy. Adjustability
Note: The Dell P3222QE monitor is heavy; handle with extreme care. It is recommended to have two people to lift or move this monitor. It is missing some things that would have made it more flexible, though, like a wider color gamut for video use and a KVM feature. When your office is your living room, you need devices that can be used for both work and play, and while the P3223QE is great for work, it isn’t so suited to play.
