This is a fairly short read, especially as it's in diary entries, but very easy to listen to, nicely narrated by the author, a talented (voice) actor, and full of all the stuff we like at Christmas.He explained to Chris: “I think for kids, it’s a gift to read a diary because when they read stories that are in the third person, brilliant as they are- it costs a kid a lot to read a book. You always have to remember that when you’re writing for children, it costs them to read. So, you want to write something that they’re going to absolutely love, and they’re going to find funny, and they’re going to find moving and then they’re going to get a lot out of the story.” I like the different components in this book like the lists and bullet points. I also like that you get to meet more characters throughtout the chapters like Tog's older siblings Bay and Bo. This book is perfect for 8+ readers who want to discover the true meaning of gift giving. It is a relatively simple read which could be devoured in a few sittings, perfect for in between the many Christmas events families have planned at a busy time of year. The book has been on my nightstand as I have been reading it this week and my 9 year old daughter is desperate to read it next!
