About this deal

Individually machined and engraved, the GMMK Pro is presented in a beautiful, high quality aluminium frame, so you can be assured you're met with long lasting durability as well as style. GOAT Stabilisers & Rotary Encoder The RGB lighting, which you’ll also find at the sides for a touch of ambient lighting, is bright and vibrant, and while it is a little on the heavy side at 3.3 lbs (1.51Kg), its 75% with 82 keys layout saves you space while ensuring you’ve still got access to keys that are vital to productivity. Even the cable is removable so you can spring for a coiled one that’s more robust and better looking. Barebones keyboards are supposed to provide a helpful bridge between the simplicity of buying pre-built keyboards and the complexity of building your own unit from scratch. The price you’ll pay to build it to its entirety and the modifications you’ll have to make to it begs the question, “Why buy this?” With its build-quality issues, Glorious does not lay out a nice welcome mat for those looking to get into the hobby of building mechanical keyboards. Because the GMMK Pro is a gasket-mount design, it’s supposed to do two things differently than most other mounting styles, which is to provide some flex when typing (for those who like it) and provide a more uniform sound profile amongst the entire board. Disappointingly for gasket fans, there really isn’t any flex. In the end, my typing experience with the Glorious GMMK Pro was good, but I needed to, and I emphasize "needed" to do some work because taking apart the GMMK Pro is not a simple task and if you’re new to the hobby of mechanical keyboards then the immense amount of screws needed to take apart the board and the difficulty lining up the RGB diffuser between the plate and PCB will deter newcomers. Considering that this is a barebones kit, you should not have to take it apart to get a decent experience.

Glorious GMMK Pro 75 Barebone - Black Slate ISO-Layout - OcUK

As a barebones kit, the GMMK Pro’s typing experience is heavily dependent on the switches and keycaps you use. I appreciated the 75% layout, but found that the stabilizers leave much to be desired and the gasket mount is a mixed bag. Only after I did serious modifications, which a user shouldn't have to do, did the typing experience become a good one. Part of its dynamic 75% layout, the GMMK Pro offers fully customisable RGB lighting. For each of its 84 keys, you'll be met with 16.8 million RGB colours that are presented in multiple modes and animations, also being presented across the signature side lighting panel to make it shine. Firstly, some housekeeping: it's called 'white ice' but unless you're pointing a lot of light at it, it's actually silver. Think 2010s-era Apple product silver. Not a deal breaker for me as I use it with a Mac, so it matches, but if you're expecting 'white', it isn't that.

One of the reasons I bought this particular model is that it can be modded in firmware so that the keys do alternative things; this was important to me because I wanted it to be a Mac layout rather than the standard Windows, which means moving the Windows/Command key to a different location amongst other things. I used VIA to do this (you have to install the VIA firmware first, I found that rev 1 worked, rev 2 didn't), which means I can easily change stuff (including the RGB) through a web interface. Handy! There’s also no need to worry about latency here as it’s a wired keyboard – something that many gamers prefer over wireless options. Glorious GMMK Pro: Price & availability

GMMK PRO 75% Custom Keyboard (Black) - Glorious Gaming

A self-professed keyboard enthusiast with a modest but expanding mechanical keyboard collection, I've also been testing and reviewing keyboards for gaming, productivity, and creative work for years. While this is my first time building a keyboard from scratch, I have been modding my own keebs since 2022. Individually machined and engraved, the GMMK Pro is presented in a beautiful, high quality aluminium frame, so you can be assured you're met with long lasting durability as well as style. GOAT STABILISERS & ROTARY ENCODER Overall I'm really pleased with it, and consider it worth the money if you want something that you're going to use heavily. As well as looking sleek in white, the GPBT keycaps are highly durable, thanks to the use of PBT plastic. Resisting wear and tear, these keycaps won’t shine over time with heavy usage. Out of the box, this keyboard is arranged to be used with a Windows PC. Mac users, never fear – there are four extra keycaps included with Mac functionality. Plus, there’s an extra cheeky novelty ESC key featuring the Glorious logo. With the included Glorious Keycap Puller, switching out keycaps is incredibly easy. There’s more to the world of gaming keyboards than first meets the eye. Keycaps, switches, and lighting are all customisable with the Glorious GMMK Pro range, but starting with a barebones keyboard can be somewhat daunting. Especially for budding enthusiasts. This is where the Glorious GMMK Pro Pre-Built Keyboard comes in. A blend of hot-swappable functionality and a fully formed keyboard, this is the perfect place to start! Hot SwappingIntroducing the all new GMMK Pro 75 Barebone Keyboard from Glorious. A 75% sized keyboard featuring an ultra-premium gasket-mounted hot-swappable design, the GMMK Pro naturally dampens keystrokes for a unique haptic and acoustic experience. This keyboard also utilises a fully programmable knob and modular PCB along with factory lubed and cut-screw-in stabilisers.
