About this deal

Only a couple of the ‘big 5’ TV brands we mentioned earlier can match this Hisense when it comes to HDR compatibility: the A6G covers HLG, HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision – which we can all agree is pretty decent at any money.

We uploaded the brightness measurements and uniformity photos after running the TV for two months in our Accelerated Longevity Test. The Hisense 65A6BGTUK has a sleek remote control that is easy to use. The remote features a minimalistic design, with large, easy-to-press, well-laid-out buttons. The remote also has a built-in microphone, which allows you to control the TV using voice commands. This handy feature makes it easy to search for content and control the TV without having to navigate through menus manually.Let’s start with what’s good. The bezel is discreet enough to not intrude on the TV viewing experience, and the depth of the set is just 78mm without the stand, making it appreciatively slim in appearance. The main HDR formats are repped in HDR10, HLG, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Hisense says the 65U8QFTUK can hit a peak brightness of 1000 nits – and it can certainly go bright. HDR content is given a punchy, gleaming, near three-dimensional presentation at times. I’m less confident with its HDR10+ performance, however. A HDR10+ stream of 1917 on Prime Video looks close to – but less refined – than its disc-based counterpart. Stream Disney on your Hisense TV and discover the best stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic in one place. With 500 movies and 300 TV shows, from timeless classics to new originals, Disney has something for everyone. The Hisense A6G includes a pair of downward-firing speakers, each of which has 8W of built-in amplification. As you would expect from a modern TV, the slim chassis precludes the use of larger speakers, and the amplification is clearly limited. As a result, the audio performance is perfunctory at best, and the reality is that even a simple single-unit soundbar will deliver a higher quality sonic experience with content like TV shows, movies and games.

Driven by data, run by a passionate team of engineers, testers, technical writers, developers, and more. Resolution: The Hisense 65A6BGTUK features a 4K UHD resolution, which delivers stunning picture quality with crisp details and vibrant colors. The TV’s 4K resolution is four times higher than Full HD so that you can enjoy a more immersive and engaging viewing experience. Additionally, the TV’s advanced upscaling technology can enhance the quality of non-4K content, making it look better. The performance in the 55-inch model doesn’t scale up as well to the 65-inch unit. Although there’s Dolby Atmos support for a more spacious presentation, for a screen of this size a soundbar is a must if the audio is to match the visuals the Hisense 65U8QFTUK can produce. Yes - this television contains lead only in certain parts or components,in accordance with existing exemption clauses under the RoHS Directive. The Hisense A6G Series has fantastic accuracy after calibration to the D65 white point. The white balance was difficult to calibrate, but it's extremely accurate. Gamma is much closer to the target, and most colors are accurate. The color temperature is still a bit cool, but it isn't very noticeable.

The choice of image presets is key to the performance of the A6G, though. Cinema mode can look a little flat, but Standard and Dynamic give the panel permission to shine. The shape of the stand isn’t conducive to placing a soundbar in front of the unit, unless it’s a compact one. Attaching the stand is easy – simply a case of uniting the three pieces together and screwing the top panel into the TV. There’s a slight give; but the stand isn’t one for swivelling to and fro. In fact, skin-tones also reveal just how adept the A6G is when it comes to the finer details. It manages to load images with lots of pertinent information without being laboured or aggressive about it, and even the most complicated patterns or involved textures are delivered in believable fashion. The same is true of edge-definition, which is smooth and confident, and on-screen motion. Televisions at any price can sometimes struggle to exert authority over movement, but the Hisense keeps a grip of motion without any overt alarms. While the limited brightness and gamut coverage is to be expected at this price point, the poor HDR10 tone-mapping disappoints, marring an otherwise excellent picture performance for a budget TV.

We tested the 65-inch Hisense A6G, and the results are also valid for the 43-inch model (Hisense 43A6G), the 55-inch model (Hisense 55A6G), and the 75-inch model (Hisense 75A6G). The 50-inch (Hisense 50A6G), 60-inch (Hisense 60A6G), 70-inch (Hisense 70A6G), and 85-inch (Hisense 85A6G) models are a bit different, as they use a different panel type from the 65-inch we've tested, so the results from this review aren't valid for those models. The Hisense A6G is a superior budget 4K TV that could easily pass for something more premium. Key attractions include Dolby Vision HDR and strong streaming service options, but there are limitations if you’re a serious gamer.
