About this deal

We're delighted to announce that we have a brand new Club Gin, and what could be a better gift in time for Christmas?

Thomas Greenall founded Greenalls in 1762, when London’s Marylebone Pleasure Gardens were the place to be seen. Moving on to the 1830s, his son-in-law John Neill joined the family firm to create gin: ever since, the love of the craft has passed through eight generations of the line to Johnny Neill, who carries the family torch onward today at Marylebone Pleasure Gardens Distillery Company in Bond Street.Other botanicals include angelica root and liquorice root, as well as the warming finish of anise and hot cloves. Any given night in Georgian London, a fête was afoot. And to find it, all you needed to do was make your way to the nearest pleasure garden.

His latest creation, is Marylebone Gin– a deliciously floral and citrus led gin, made in small batches to a pretty healthy 50.2%. Piccadilly, home of the Royal Air Force Club and 'home from home' for all our much loved Members & guests.

Choose from over 30 wines and pair your grape with modern European delicacies prepared by a Michelin-starred chef. With a spacious private dining room, it’s also the perfect place for an event, celebration, or large get-togethers. The Nest Pour all the ingredients into a glass shaker filled with ice. Pour into a glass and garnish with grapefruit zest. While Marylebone may fly under the radar for some, these are popular places so book ahead to avoid disappointment. The Marylebone Pleasure Gardens that inspired Johnny Neill’s amazing Gin of the Month started out as a bandstand and two bowling greens down the side of the local pub. Entry was free, even when several acres from a neighbouring estate were bolted on. Master of Malt: It seems like you’ve got distilling in your blood. Were you always destined to enter the spirits industry?

Nose: Lots of pine, oily citrus and a herbal twinge of coriander root lead with help from deep, concentrated notes of juniper. Entry fees may have kept out the real wrong’uns, but pleasure gardens remained one of the most accessible and exciting activities of the era. At just a shilling, entry to the Cremorne Pleasure Gardens in Chelsea was a steal, giving you access to elaborate fountains, a theatre where ballets and burlesques alike were performed, a fairy bower and a banqueting hall. Expect plenty of mezcal, tequila, and small plates to keep you going throughout the evening. Cool Bars in Marylebone: Practical Tips Overall: Tastes as good as it looks and makes a smashing G&T, Marylebone London Dry Gin is a well balanced and elegant expression.Built in what used to be the outskirts of London – Chelsea, Marylebone and Vauxhall, to name just a few – the pleasure gardens of the 18th and 19th centuries were so much more than picnic spots. Drinks are on the pricier side of things, though we’re still dreaming about the (uber) spicy Margarita we downed weeks ago. So, we think they’re worth it. Johnny Neill has made quite the mark on the spirits industry in the last 15 years. The descendant of Thomas Greenall and JJ Whitley created the Whitley Neill Gin brand in 2005, building it from the ground up as one of the pioneers of the gin boom until it was acquired by Halewood Wines & Spirits in 2009. Working with the family-owned, UK-based distiller and distributor, he’s since developed brands such as Marylebone Gin , Berkshire Botanical Gin and revived the historic Gelston Irish whiskey name as director and owner of HJ Neill Spirits. As the founder of Whitley Neill Gin, Marylebone Gin, Berkshire Botanical Gin and Gelston Irish whiskey, it’s fair to say that Johnny Neill knows a thing or two about booze. We managed to grab five minutes with him and here’s what he said:
