About this deal

Absolutely! The MPC Live will be fully compatible with projects, programs and sequences from previous MPC versions and legacy hardware MPC's such as the MPC5000, MPC4000, MPC3000, MPC2500/2500XL, MPC1000, and MPC500. The MPC Live will support the following file types .AKP, . ALL, .IPT, .PGM, .PRJ, . SND, .MID, .SEQ, . APS, .50k, and .50s. If you use it in studio with lots of midi devices, you can make it the brain for midi too, no need to buy stuff like Bome box or MRCC. ( of cuz they are great if you need one in your setup ). The brand new randomisation section can add subtle to extreme variation to your Drum and Keygroup programs. You can use it to randomise pan, pitch, filter, envelope and sample offset parameters. It’s particularly handy for humanising drum patterns. Drum Pad Effects I was looking for a piece of gear that I could Sample, Sequence, drive midi gear and produce 80's type music on - its a complex piece of kit at first, whoch you have to persevere with to understand - one week in I think I have the concepts - its now the detail I need to get into - there seems to be a lot you can do with this mighty machine!

On top of all this functionality, the MPC Live II features native support for Splice and tight integration with Ableton Live - it comes pre-mapped to Live and can also control the DAW wirelessly via Wi-Fi - in addition to expandable memory options (SD Card, USB thumb drive and a 2.5 inch SATA bay) that give you the ability upload your own sample libraries. Wherever Inspiration StrikesFor the music makers who never want to miss an inspirational moment, meet MPC Live II Retro. This self-contained, battery-powered production unit delivers the full MPC experience, anywhere. AKAI just launched version 2.10 of the MPC firmware, their biggest update ever, with loads of new features and improvements! Let’s go through some of the amazing novelties you can enjoy with version 2.10. USB class audio support All in all, the MPC range is at the most appealing right now that it’s been in the 21st century. In terms of its balance of capabilities and convenience, there isn’t anything on the market to rival the MPC Live when it comes to realising the dream of wireless, go-anywhere music production. The hardware updates for v2 are subtle, but both speaker and CV ports add genuine usability. MPC 2 is designed to be the ultimate platform for unrestricted creative versatility alongside must-have tools that deliver unprecedented control. MPC 2 supports all 3rd Party Midi controllers with templates for all popular models. MPC has graduated from a highly acclaimed performance instrument to a fully featured DAW.

We have a few issues trying to get the Akai Force and MPC Live II to sync via Link but, as soon as Ableton Live was running, they synced perfectly to that. Link works over wifi but there’s also support for Bluetooth MIDI in/out, as well as for devices such as computer keyboards, so you don’t have to keep tapping at the touch display to enter project names. Bluetooth audio, though, is not supported on any of Akai’s hardware devices.

Along the way the Akai Force emerged, sharing many of the MPC's features and technology, but with a different approach to making and performing music. This latest revision of the Live hardware shows that MPCs aren't being phased out in favour of the Force; the two will run in parallel, and might hopefully cross-pollinate in cool ways. Boom Box All this made the MPC the centerpiece of my studio and the perfect travel companion for composition abroad. Whether you're a producer, live performer, or DAWless jammer, this could well be the update you've been waiting for! Splice IntegrationSimplify your sample browsing and auditioning with on-board Splice integration in MPC Live II Retro. Splice Sounds fuels the creativity of producers around the world with millions of high-quality, royalty-free samples, sounds, presets and loops, covering every musical style. With Splice natively embedded in MPC Live II Retro, you will experience immediate Wi-Fi access to your own Splice library directly from the touch user interface.Unlike the Force and MPC X, the Live and One encoders (Q-Links) don't have displays. I've generally found the red outline on the screen to work fine for showing what the encoders are controlling, but the new version adds a graphical overlay that pops-up when you touch the encoders. This is especially helpful if you're not in Screen follow mode, and is great in most of the instrument and mix effect views, as these have margins at the sides. For other views, though, the overlay obscures what's on the screen, and I ended up turning the feature off. This excellent update sees the inclusion of the wonderful DrumSynth addon to your production tools, adding unparalleled rythmic power to your already impressive toolset.

As well as the AIR Vocal Suite, MPC 2.10 gives you a host of new AIR insert effects to spice up your productions. AIR Half Speed The Force does not interact with the MPC software, though it’s entirely possible that Akai is going to bring all of its hardware products into line with a future software update. The Live has a song mode and a selection of software instruments but, at heart, it’s always been more about the sampling and the beats – you can probably tell that by looking at it. The Force is more of an Ableton-in-a-box concept, which is something that many users have wanted for years. The Live boasts more ways of connecting with the outside world – more audio inputs, full-size MIDI ports, and the CV/gate outputs – than the Force too. In terms of quality, you can’t really go wrong with either. Akai’s hardware prowess is second to none.Yes! The MPC X and MPC Live will recognize MPC projects, programs and sequences made with earlier versions of the software and even older MPC hardware project and program formats. The MPC will convert them to the modern formats upon importing. However, with the plethora of effects and plugins, one could create mix and master a song totally in the box. Absolutely! MPC 2.0 will be fully compatible with projects, programs and sequences from previous MPC versions and even legacy hardware MPC's like the MPC5000 and MPC2500. MPC 2.0 will support the following file types: .AKP, .ALL, .IPT, .PGM, .PRJ, .SND, .MID, .SEQ, .APS, .50k, and .50s.
