The 3s for Mac performed best during our testing and was the mouse I continued to use after our testing concluded. The M720 has robust hardware and software features commonly reserved for pricier mice. The left side features two traditional (and customizable) thumb buttons and a third button to switch between up to three paired devices. That narrowed the field significantly and mostly left more prominent brands like Logitech and Apple remaining. Pairing Macs with non-Apple accessories like webcams, microphones, and mice can be a headache due to incompatible ports, dongles, and software. When installing Logitech options+ , you will have the possibility to install predefined app-specific settings that will adapt the mouse button behavior to be optimized in selected applications.

Press and hold the Easy-Switch button for three seconds. This will put the mouse in discoverable mode so that it can be seen by your computer. The LED will start blinking fast. You can install Logitech Options software to receive battery status notifications, including low-charge warnings. In the Logitech Options Software, you can decide to disable SmartShift if you prefer to stay in a single scrolling mode and always shift manually. You can also adjust the SmartShift sensitivity, which will change the speed required to automatically shift into free spinning. USB receiver: Plug the receiver to a USB port, open Logitech Options+, and select: Add devices> Setup Logi Bolt device, and follow the instructions. As well as pointer speed, you can also customise scroll speed – the little button at the top mentioned earlier switches between ratchet ‘line-by-line' scrolling and ‘free scroll,’ which means the wheel freely spins to scroll across lots of information at once. This is a surprisingly useful feature we found using more than we thought we might. You can use the mouse cursor to move from one computer to the next. You can even copy and paste between computers, and if you have a compatible Logitech keyboard, such as MX Keys, the keyboard will follow the mouse and switch computers at the same time. After weeks of testing, we found the Logitech MX Master 3s for Mac to be the best Mac-friendly mouse overall, with the Logitech’s M720 Triathlon a great budget-friendly alternative.
