The legendary Klon Centaur that we all know and love is described by some as the perfect overdrive pedal. If you’re looking for a reliable and affordable compressor, NUX Sculpture will be an excellent choice. It sounds really natural and it works very well with other pedals. It will also definitely sharpen the signals on both top and bottom edges. To our ears, it's still one of the fizzier distortions, and we wish it had some more volume on tap, but we can't deny that this Boss pedal is a classic. For many, the Boss DS-1 was their first pedal, and at this price point, it's easy to see why it's still so popular. It's easy to use, sounds fantastic, and is extremely robust! A version of the popular Archer with six graphic EQ sliders instead of a tone knob, developed by guitarist Steve Stevens. Each slider controls 18dB of cut or boost at 6 different frequencies.

Gold Mode mimics its classic predecessor; the transparent Gold Centaur overdrive pedal and the Silver Mode is a powered-up version with an extended gain range (Silver Centaur). Rather unusually, the Sugar Drive makes no reference to the fact that it is a ‘Klone’. It’s name doesn’t reference the Klon, nor does its bright blue enclosure. Nux Time Core is a digital delay pedal which gives you an access to a really wide range of tonal possibilities. The differences between these pedals are really not that profound, nor are the differences between these pedals and the original Klon. Depending on how the settings of the Centaur are set, the pedal is capable of producing sounds ranging from a clean boost all the way to a fairly dirty overdrive/distortion sound – all while preserving the original tone of your guitar.

One of the designs that most closely resembles the original Centaur, this unit uses only the highest-quality components. That of course is not to say these differences don’t exist. It is instead to suggest that the differences between Klon clones are usually heavily exaggerated.

Finally, the original had a massive enclosure, so as always, we tend to say that size should be one of the most important considerations. After all, if you can't fit it on your 'board, it doesn't matter how good it sounds!

Both of these circuits are fitted with a ‘ratio’ switch, which in essence allows you to alter the amount of gain in the circuit. There are also internal dip switches for each side and you can use these to alter the bass response in the circuit. Where the regular Tumnus was a no-frills Klone, the Deluxe represents Brian Wampler's take on the circuit, and is one of the best Klon clones out there. Of most interest are the additions of an active bass and mids control. The shelving treble of the original Klon is still present, but the mids control allows you to have greater control over the midrange of the pedal. There are companies out there that own huge factories that make pedals on the behalf of other brands. Some of these companies have since gone on to create their own brands and sell directly to the consumer, meaning that you can get the same pedal, perhaps with a slightly different design, for a lower cost. What Makes NUX Pedals Different?

Key to the circuit are two filter networks that amount to a clean blend. The first is controlled by the dual-gang gain control. As gain is increased, a filtered clean signal that runs in parallel is reduced in amplitude, and vice-versa.
